I have never seen him fight, other than the highlights of his first fight with beyer. :dunno:

If he can't beat Beyer and Mundine, I wonder how good he could possibly be.

Yeah, no shit. His win over Griffin was impressive, but to be calling out Tarver is a bit premateur.

Hardly. Tarver looked like dogsh*t in his last fight anyway. The old man is ready to be KTFO brutally anytime now. The person who does it first will get a lot of accolades.

I agree, don't get me wrong I wasn't meaning to defend Tarver. But more of ask what has Green done to deserve that shot. I will be the loudest one cheering when Tarver does get KTFO:bears:

You think Hamed didn't train? You think Hamed wasn't exciting? Didn't have some very good wins? Didn't come to knock his opponents out? Didn't transform his cocky personality into some alter-ego that made him famous and polarizing, a la Ali?

I don't disagree with the point you were trying to make, but using Hamed as your main example is weak. Very weak.

What has Tarver done to deserve a shot at anyone better than Green? Sounds like a logical fight to me. Tarver ain't shit. He just barely beat Elvir Murqui, green is by far a better fighter than Murqui.

Green was beating the shit out of Beyer in their first fight when he was DQ'd. He lost the rematch by MD.

Green nearly KO'd Beyer in the 12th. The decision was fair though. Mundine dominated Green 10-2 or 9-3

The DQ was questionable for sure. That's the only fight out of the three that I have seen. I haven't seen the Beyer Rematch or the Mundine fight. I'm sure one of the aussie posters has seen them all though and can tell you more.

Questionable? Not sure I agree with you dude, the intentional headbutt was really asking for it. I think Green has only himself to blame in this one.

That's why I called it questionable and not outright bullshit.

i see that green is calling out tarver and is also willing to take the lower cut of the purse.

this is a perfect fight for tarver to take, especially if he can get Showtime to televise from Australia.

The fight doesn't advance Tarver's career at all, though. Beating Green who's been beaten by Mundine, Beyer, etc...what's that going to mean? Nothing.

Except money. And there might be enough of that to make it worth Tarver's while, but since Green is pretty dangerous, I'd probably just stay away from this and fight some American who is less dangerous, but higher regarded (by Americans, anyway).

Tarver needs to work his was back up if he still can. Green is a step up from Tarver's last fight. Why does Tarver deserve anything more than a fight with Green?

It's not what he deserves, it's what he can get. Imo, he can get a title shot right now or without the risk of fighting Green.

u think tarver cares about a title?

he just won that bogus IBO belt which now days is pretty much the same as IBF, WBA or whatever.

he's nearly 40 and is looking to cash out.

he would make good $ fighting Green in Australia. it's also more of a winnable fight than against someone like dawson.

maybe he can fight green as a part of an ibf eliminator then fight the winner of woods-gonzalez II. now, that's $ + a title fight.

This makes allot of sense. I would pick Tarver to beat Woods or Gonzales.

Green will most probably end up fighting Clinton Woods. But he'd beat Tarver, IMO. He looks a lot stronger @ 175, even if he's still wooden as hell.

Briggs would disagree with you. They've sparred a tonne and neither guy has come close to asserting any kind of diminance over the other.

Fightbeat!!! Thanks for the love and the hate! I will continue to post here and I will continue on the path to the world championship. I did fine. I was going at a slow pace in the first couple of rounds because I exspected Danny to come out like a bull. Danny instead choose to box me; a style I've never seen from him in the five fights I watched. Greens best work came off fouls. He told me so in my room himself. He also told me to never complain to the ref about anything (When in Australia do as the Aussie). Here's what I feel happen. Feel free to watch the tape and compare. I was hit on the break in the 2nd (no warning given to Dan). In the 3rd while in the clench Green hit me with a series of rabbit punches in NHL style fashion and then on the break; jumped in w/ a left hook that sat me on my butt. I got up and complained ref said nothing. We came at each other ending in another clench follwed by more hockey punches causing me to go down to a knee. I looked up to take the eight. I also seen Green standing behind ref Gary Dean like Jack Dempsey and not in the white corner. I stood and tried to fight Danny off at this point. He jumped in with a Left hook and beat me down to a knee with more rabbit punches and Dean called it. I learned there are no gentleman in boxing and to protect yourself at all times. I can't take anything away from Danny and I thank him for his words of wisdom. When you watch the tape you'll agree Gary Dean lost complete control of the fight. As for me I'm only 28 (29 in August not 30) and yeah I lost to a guy that in a few weeks will be #1 contender in 3 bodies;I pray he will also go on to beat Tarver. I'll put togethere 2 or 3 good wins and fight another eliminator or maybe for a world title. You're all right I'm not a 29 or 30 year old prospect. I'm a contender!!

Dude, I mean this with all respect, but there's nothing I hate worse than someone who says "....not taking anything away from so and so...." and then goes on to offer up excuses for losing other than just being beaten by a better man..

My thought, while playing and coaching various sports, is that you grow more as a competitor by owning up to losing as a result of your own action as opposed to blaming something or someone else. That's the only way you improve.

Nevertheless, good luck and I am sure you will fight your way back into contention..

    I agree.
Green is a helluva action fighter, real tough clam, a throwback to the gatekeepers of the 1950's.
As for 30G, he is still young enough to turn this negative experience into a postive one.
You learn much more from your losses than you do your wins.

As long as your honest with yourself as to why you lost...

Nice point about Green. He does remind me of a scrapper from the 50's..
