Gomez lost a grand total of twice in his effective, and slightly-past prime -- to Sanchez and Nelson. I consider both those guys a class above Marquez, and both those guys would have kicked the shit outta Marquez. Gomez-Marquez would be a competitive fight imo. Marquez wasnt as aggressive nor as durable as the aforementioned two. He was a counterpuncher. He didn't lay out ANY great fighters at featherweight. He needed roids to lay out a great fighter. Gomez was better than Marquez, in a P4P sense. Gomez would have never lost to Chris John, I know that for fuckin certain.
Neil always talks about Gomez "cheating" in the Zarate fight, and ignores the fact that JMM was juiced to the high heavens in his signature win.
