de la hoya's passivity notwithstanding, is pac-man the greatest asian sportsperson in the world, and ever? (shout out to sachin tendulkar, yao ming, ....) whatever his status, boxing is lucky to have pac-man - a man who makes money by fighting the biggest challenges out there, always with an up-front style.
You never consider the fact that maybe oscar left everything he had in the gym? He's a 35 year old man that had no business at welterweight in the first place.
He's one of the great ones of all time by beating on Morales (twice), Barrera (twice), Marquez, and jumping up and stopping De La Hoya... and grabbing a title in between. If he wants to seal it, he could take on hatton and beat him.
I would have to say yes. I asked him in Houston if he won will he be greater than Flash Elorde, Pone Kingpetch, Fighting Harada, and Pancho Villa. Manny is such a humble and nice kid, he told me that those men were greats, but he dosen't like to compare himself to other fighters.
That's how Manny has been his entire career. Humble, loving to his people, and ferocious in the ring. He's the epitome of everything I respect in a fighter, and human being. Floyd could learn a thing or two from Manny, and I'm not just talking about fighting.
Greatest personality, perhpas, the greatest athlete, nowhere near. Jahangir Khan and Yasuhiro Yamashita are levels above
No, they are levels below. Pacman is in a proper sport, and has cemented himself as one of the best ever. Judo? :: ::
Mm.. Khan isn't a judo athlete:: Just the fact that boxing is the only sport people here know doesn't mean that it was the only sport. The greatest judoka ever is a greater achievment than perhaps the 15th best boxer ever
