I believe what G. had to say regarding the issue. Arum has admitted that he will lie when it suits him therefore I never believe anything he says 100%.

    "yesterday I was lying..."

The irony in all of this is that Rafael took Arum's word as gospel for the sake of this blog, yet in the blog from the week prior he basically called him a liar for overestimating PPV sales for Pac-Diaz.

The difference between the two is one's a full-time bullshirt artist trying to pass off lies as the truth, the other is agenda-driven trying to pass off his opinion and third-party theories as fact.

although pavlik is starting to become over rated, I'd say he is too high of a mountain for green.

didn't green complain about dropping the weight when his questionable ticker surfaced against miranda?

I don't think he was complaining as much as he was talking out of his ass.

More from the story that won't die.

    Dan Rafael's notebook:

    Greg Leon's response:

I never really read Boxingtalk but I can't believe how unprofessional that Leon guy sounds. His reply to Rafael almost sounds like a message board post.

Possible, I only read that answer above my post and I thought the weight references were very unprofessionnal. I didn't read the whole thing so I'll take your word on Rafael's professionnalism.

Well, when you consider the fact that Rafael writes for the "worldwide leader in sports," he should have checked every side of the story, which a real reporter is supposed to do. Especially in a situation such as this, where one side is blasting the other.

And it's not as if Greg is hard to get in touch with. The guy has multiple phones and answers them all no matter how busy he is at the moment.

The lack of proper reporting from the supposed best reporter in the sport is what makes him unprofessional.

Rafael gave his second hand account, while Greg offered his first hand account with very specific details. One has to side with Greg on this issue.

...well Leon's constant jibes about Rafael's weight is childish at best.

Who's right and who is wrong....i dont really care....i'm sure there is truth is what each of them are saying, and i'm sure there is BS from both sides too.... life is too short for me to be bothered to try and figure it all out...based on leon's and rafael's accounts alone, it is probably impossible

Boxingtalk (Greg) is just being boxingtalk.

ESPN (Rafael) is being very unlike themselves.

I think that after Greg came back with his two responses, he's obviously the one to believe moreso. The truth surely lies somewhere in between, but not far from Greg's account.

agREED... and it makes it worse that Rafael keeps resurrecting the story and passing other people's bullshit as his own version of "the truth."

What I don't get is this: with ESPN now boasting the following regularly contributing to their site:
Tim Smith, Robert Morales, William Detloff, Thomas Hauser (though his heart is still with SecondsOut), Eric Raskin, Michael Hirschly, and two of the very best writers in the game in Kieran Mulvaney and Graham Houston.

... is there still a need for a cut and paste guy like Rafael? As many times as others have called him out on his own fabrications, you'd think ESPN would take notice by now.

I know Greg pretty good, he isnt a bad guy but what Arum and Holden claimed was spot on about the way he acts. I guarantee that he did jump on that conf call with Arum and really pissed him off.
Have you seen Arum on b-talk since?
    Nope!
I am not a fan of Rafael, I think he is a complete dumbshit who looks like the character Fat Bastard from Austin Powers Goldmember but I believe that story because I seen Greg with Arum before and the fact that both guys, Holden and Arum have not went to bat for Greg in defending him in this issue.
