Unless You're a MEMBER of Diaz's Camp or KNOW Someone that is, it's Awfully PRESUMPTUOUS to ASSume he's Neglected his BJJ... If Trplsec's Information is ACCURATE, in Regards to Diaz Entering a BJJ Expo in 2012, Assisting his Brother for a Fight AND Subbing a Guy from his Back as Recent as 2011, then it Should Be Fairly OBVIOUS BJJ is Still a Part of his Training Regimen... Fuuuuurthermore, Why WOULDN'T BJJ Still Be a Part of his Workout???... REED:hammert:
I train with several people that also train at CGJ. I will be training up there in a few weeks for 3 days. This is not just me saying this. Many people have the same thought. Only thing Nick cares about is boxing in being a Triathlete. This is a man that wanted to be a pro boxer. He was going to take a break from MMA and be a pro boxer. He entered/started training for the 2012 expo in April. 2 months after his LAST MMA fight. The expo was in May. APRIL! BTW, he didnt fight in that EXPO. He pulled out. As for subbing santos from his back. Eh not really. He got the armbar in from his back, but he didnt sub him while he was on his back. But that doesnt matter, because 99% of the fight was standing. And subbing someone with an armbar doesn't really display your BJJ talent. Especially when you have been boxing the whole fight. Again, like i said, he wanted to be a pro boxer.
Eh, not really my ass. Nick grabbed the arm bar from the bottom plain and simple. And yes they were boxing the whole fight and Diaz was winning so Santos took him down. 30 seconds later he's tapping from an arm bar that Nick grabbed from the bottom position. No speculation. No grey area. Diaz was on his back when he grabbed the arm FROM THE BOTTOM position. So lets recap. On the side of Nick still training BJJ, we have public video of him training with Nate less than 3 months ago. We have him training as recently as mid 2012 for a Mega BJJ match. We have him pulling subs from his back 2 times in the last 2 years. And we have him actually competing in BJJ tournaments as recently as 2010. And on the side of him NOT training BJJ, we have something you heard from people who heard from some other people. I'll let the jury decide but it seems open and shut to me.
Another thing that struck me as funny. To be clear, Diaz already has boxed professionally. Anthony makes it seem like its Nick's ultimate desire. He's been there. And I think anyone with half a brain remembers Diaz using the proposed Jeff Lacy fight and giving up MMA for boxing as a ploy to leverage more money from Strikeforce. As it turns out, the UFC took over, signed Diaz and boxing became an after thought. LOL.... Anthony is stubborn as hell when he's clearly wrong.
Actually what we have is: Nick rolling with his brother for his brother's fight. That means Nick isnt training. The training is focused on Nate. Plus, where is the video? Who long is it? His training for that BJJ fight in May began in April. Listen again. HIS TRAINING FOR THE MAY EVENT, BEGAN in APRIL. That is two months after his last MMA fight. My comments are based off of his MMA fights. But you are bringing one month of half asses training two months after his last fight. For a BJJ match that he pulled out of. We have him pulling subs against Scott Smith and Santos. Combine both fights and it's about 25 minutes. about 1% of that 25 minutes was on the ground. Sorry, but that is not a display of BJJ. 99% of both fights was boxing. You bringing up those actually proves my point the guy only thinks about boxing. So now we have gone from your failed BJJ 2012 mega fight theory in which he only trained a month (IF That) to tourney's in 2010. Keep moving that goal post. As for what i heard. I heard from people who train in the same gym as them. This is a man who loves boxing. Wanted to become a pro boxer. And focused on it. He wanted a break from MMA to become a pro boxer. You dont do that and still focus on BJJ. This man would praise his boxing coach more than Gracie. Now my whole point was that had diaz Maintained his level of BJJ training, he would be great. But he hast (at least not up until his feb 2012 fight). I am not saying his ability isn't there. I am saying he neglected it. I have made this clear now several times. People i know with that are close with them can see it. prior to his last fight with Condit, his focus was boxing and triathlons. BJJ stopped being a priority. What he has done since February, 2012? Who knows. But from the people i train with, they dont see much BJJ training. Now my personal opinion? I would lOVE for Diaz to win this fight. Hell i would love for Diaz to win with a sub off his back. I WOULD LOVE IT. But i dont know if will happen. With all that being said, im done with this conversation. I have my opinion and you have yours. The difference is that i dont chastise or disrespect your opinion. You seem like you want to argue more and more just for the case of arguing. It's boring.
You and I can do this all day long and still respect each other. That being said, I'm right, you're wrong and I'm putting you on "ignore". So don't bother responding.
folks this right here is an example of someone with no credentials. He wont fly here and say that to my face.
You must be using your mod powers to overwrite my "ignore", because I can see this. But flying Florida to California would give you the jet lag advantage. Let's just call it 3pm next Wednesday in Omaha, Nebraska. If your not there, well know what's up.
His camp is mainly BJJ. Do you even watch MMA? There is training footage of Nick training BJJ for this very fight. Seriously, where do you get your info?
not sure what to think of nick's bjj. he has a tight guard and has pulled off some cool submissions, but his takedown attempts are downright awful (look at his first fight vs. kj noons) and although it was many years ago, he couldn't keep diego sanchez off of him from staying on top. even vs. bj penn (a world champion in mundials) he was taken down in the first round and didn't show a whole lot. gsp's top game is on a different level and if diaz gets taken down, he'll get punished.
Wasn't Diaz like 21 when he fought Sanchez? And there's no shame in getting taken down by BJ Penn. Ask Jon Fitch. And keep in mind, Penn actually had Nicks back with both hooks in and Diaz shrugged him off. Not too many fighters can have BJ Penn on their back and then go on to win the fight. Nick is very good off his back. The problem is that GSP is absolutely great in top position.
What he has been doing since Feb 2012 really wasnt the focus of this dicussion. But to you answer your question, no. I dont watch MMA. :dunno:
Here we go. I was willing to drop the conversation. But i guess i now have a reputation of the most stubborn poster on this board so i MUST continue now. Z. Tell me. How can i be wrong about an opinion? See you think the person that agrees with you is correct. That isnt how it works kid. YOU think Nick Diaz is great. I dont. These are called opinions. As for hate being wrong? Please. I admit when im wrong more than anyone on this site.
You and I hashed this out far further than it deserves. LOL.. But I think the problem most people have with your opinion about Nick no longer training BJJ is that it really isn't substantiated by any facts. And dude, trust me, if you say you know people that train at CGJJ and THEY say Nick is no longer training BJJ, I would believe you but I wouldn't believe them. :: It just seems so unlikely given the guys he trains with and his background. And the fact of all the videos and stories of him recently rolling with Gilbert, Ronda, Nate, etc. But the one thing I think we can all agree on is the fact that Nick needs to have spent his entire suspension working from his back because there is zero doubt that GSP will put him there. What happens AFTER that is what will decide this fight.
But one thing you have to understand is that a current session of BJJ is usually 1 1/2 to 2 hours. You guys seeing a 2 minute video of the guy rolling with some people doesnt mean the guy is training BJJ. But lets be clear. What he is doing currently, i dont know. I know a few people that claim he doesnt train much BJJ. But the guy also doesnt always train at the Gym. He also trains at his home, so maybe he is doing is BJJ there. Honestly, i dont know. 90% of this man's last 11 fights have been standing for the majority of the fight. I dont thinks Diaz is the smartest guy in the world, but i hope he is training nothing but BJJ for this fight. But based on stuff like this, i dont know. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Mfz3_MrrxkU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Well, I think he spends most of his fights standing for two reasons. First, his chin and boxing skill are better than everyone he has faced recently. Some might argue Condit was better, maybe. But there's no reason to do anything else. Second, he's not a very good wrestler and has a lot of trouble getting guys to the mat.
So Diaz no showed the open workout today, and Dana is all pissed off again. Diaz is a mentally weak scumbag and he needs to go. When he loses Saturday, after Buffer announces GSP as the winner, White should get on the mic and cut Diaz while he is still in the cage. TFK
http://www.ctvnews.ca/sports/nick-diaz-misses-public-workout-ahead-of-ufc-158-in-montreal-1.1194129 Diaz skipped a public workout. Not a huge deal, but I hope it isn't a forerunner of things to come.
Saying nick doesn't train BJJ is not an opinion, it's either right or it's wrong. If I said the sky was green but that's just my opinion would you accept it as such? LOL @ you calling me a kid. I'm 34 man, and please show me where I said Diaz was "great"
His BJJ only, not him as a fighter. I'm not going to argue with you though. He sucks at BJJ, I bet you could tap him out.
So Diaz is no showing more shit I see. UFC will swallow their pride for the dollar signs and just let Nick fight GSP no matter what this Saturday and then watch them release him and THEN watch Diaz test postive for weed again and THEN watch Diaz win the Bellator 170 pound title in 2014.
