Salido's the #2 and the #1 spot is open so this has a chance of happening in the near future. I haven't seen Salido since the Guerrero fight, so it's hard to say. Guerrero has improved, but that was such a comprehensive performance by Salido. Late in that fight, I thought it was questionable whether The Ghost would last the distance. I would love to see a rematch. Guerrero has avenged one of his losses so it would be great to see him try to avenge his second one (though the Salido fight's no longer a loss on his record).
I've thought for some time that Guerrero is a bay area hype job. I mean he's got talent and all, but he isn't the second coming. Salido is solid, but they are about on the same level
yeah, but thats all I heard when he was coming up, "this guerrero from norcal is gonna be a star" etc. I don't buy it really, he's a good prospect, but not a future A level fighter
I agree he doesn't appear to have a future on the same level as say Linares. He's got a more rugged, often dirty style...that's what made the Salido fight so tough. He stayed on the inside, where he usually prefers to be, way too long in that and was beaten up. In the rare instances he boxed in that fight (somewhere around the early middle rounds) he did alright.
much agreed about Linares. Guerrero does have some good tools, but there's alot more to being a great fighter than mere physical talents. I mean if Wladimir Klitschko had his brother's balls, he'd be the best HW ever. Guerrero's shortcomings, especially mental keep him from the top.
Hard to say. Salido has never shown he was as good as he looked against Gurrero...and considering we have to throw that fight oput the window, it makes it difficult to assert either way. Orlando looked super human that night.
