That's the first and hopefully last time that sloppy bum DeFail gets compared with a top-notch technician like Eddie MM.

Agreed. He had a weird style, and it's a fallacy to call him a good technician. Guy was making ton of technical mistakes

If the technique works... it generally did. And some things he did were done superbly

That fight might be the best example I've seen of an orthodox fighter using a left hook to the body effectively on a southpaw

I'm done saying he was a bad fighter far from it. But his technical skills were not very good. A guy who fights with his chin up in the air and his hands is not a technician

I was thinking the same thing. Guy was pretty sloppy. Definitely good instincts and timing though.

    George Foreman

Arguably peaked in the first title fight vs Joe Frazier in 1973.
Complete and utter destruction of an elite fighter that we never really saw again.

Agreed. Although some argue the Norton fight was his peak performance.

    And they'd be 100% wrong.
It was a routine 1st defense for Foreman, imo.

    Norton:
    • wasn't even a champion
    • had one 'name' to his resume
    • was chinny

Yeah it is one of my favorite displays of bodypunching. Marvin couldn’t handle those left hooks and right uppercuts to the body.

I was also surprised how upright and nonchalant Eddie was when he threw those straight right hands. Looked so open
