The "onliest" difference in this scenario is, if you read the majority of what Hatton has said about Mayweather, the majority of it has been respectful of his skills etc. Mayweather rarely if ever says anything positive about anyone, let alone Hatton which rubs some the wrong way.

My issue is, Floyd doesn't HAVE to play the role of the villain in the one. A good fight is like drugs, they sell themselves. With what Floyd has on the table (the Dancing with the Stars gig) it would be wise (from a business perspective) to tone that crap down and appear to be more likeable.

In his case, it's not him being phony because he actually CAN be a decent guy. The gangsta is the phony Floyd (in my opinion) because it's not even CLOSE to the fighter he is in the ring. There's no need for him to behave in that manner.

Floyd's at a point where he can push himself into the next level of being a well-known, well-respected athlete which could possibly set him up for things later in his career. This kind of bullcrap doesn't help him, in my opinion.

I think the press conference played out exactly how we knew it would.

Maybe it is indeed a socio-cultural problem and young afro-americans dig this kind of stuff and feel it´s a proper expressions of their manhood. I was never impressed with Toney doing it either, but at least he has a funny line here and there. If Floyd wants to call himself "Money Mayweather" and do things which will set him up after boxing, my advcice to him would be to be who he is. What he is, ISN'T the boorish guy we've seen.

We all saw "24/7" when his own family members said Floyd never had to worry about anything EXCEPT boxing. Then we get Floyd talking about how he didn't have a stable family etc. Which is it?

Oscar is a phony, Leonard was a phony but at least they were business savvy enough to realize that being a villain would hurt their Q-rating. At the end of the day, we just want to see a good fight. You think boxing works wonders on the streets but no other art can be as effective? I watch MMA more than boxing these days Hanzy so your talking out your ass. The fact remains, if Im gonna chose between being able to throw by hands and a BJJ black belt then Im taking the former. Almost all fights involve multible parties or happen in clubs/outside clubs where any random nut can and invariably will chime in with a broken pint glass to your kidney or his shiny heeled shoe to your skull. You dont want to be rolling around on the ground looking for a triangle or an arm bar in those situations under any circumstance - you control the distance, rattle the pricks nose or jaw and get the fuck out of there. Fedor would look to do the same, BTW, garunteed. Hence Krav Maga and other reality based street defence arts using boxing as their base style and not wrestling/jui jitsu as is the base of MMA. Obviously its better to know BJJ or sub wrestling AS WELL, (Im training in boxing and wrestling), but thats strictly contingecy stuff in a street situation.
