Ok, I will. Not.:tease: Here are the top-10 heavyweights picked from fightnews (I dropped Valuev out just to even the scales) and nine guys Muhammad Ali faced in his championship reign in the 70s and their weights from their lasts fights Modern hevyweights (aka "few very big guys") Wlad 238 Chagaev 229 Maskaev 243 Peter 251 Thompson 246 Povetkin 227 Ibragimov 219 Briggs 273 Dimitrenko 253 Virchis 249 average weight 242,8 lbs Ali and his opponents (aka guys of modern size). I took Foreman and nine guys following him so the list doesn't include Leon Spinks who was -200 lbs and wouldn't get a licence these days Ali 217 Foreman 220 Wepner 225 Lyle 219 Bugner 230 Frazier 215 Coopman 206 Young 209 Dunn 207 Norton 218 Average weight 216,6 lbs So there is 26,2 lbs difference between the average wight of these challengers. Just think how many weight classes that is in boxing. Is it a coincidence that the heavyweight limit is now also 25 lbs higher than it was back then? Are the small guys not allowed to participte because they would expose these fatsos perhaps? Then make a comparsion between 70s and 40s, see the results and think, if it still is a coincidence and size does not really matter
Add another stat there and all will become clear - average body fat percentage. Im guessing the combined muscle mass of the two lists would be very close and what difference there is can be accounted for by idiots like Briggs following bodybuilding routines which are USELESS to a boxer.
Sure. Just like fighters got "fatter" from 40s to 70s. Just like pretty much all athletes have become fatter. So why isn't there a 200 lbs KO puncher who would train and knock out all these guys since it would be so easy? Just one guy? One guy in the whole fucken world who would decide to train unlike everybody else does?
dsimon writes: There could well be. Haye for example. Who has tried Ugo? Brock is not a big puncher, the germans NOT, lets reserve judgement, wait and see.
Watching Haye on Saturday reminded me of when I first saw Hamed on US TV (HBO)!! Lots of hype knocking out 2nd rate bums, but once he stepped up his shit, lost badly and was never seen ever again:: I definatley see Haye in the same exact light as Hamed!!
TOTALLY agREED... N Terms of Lighthearted BRAVADO, ACCENTS & the Utter BELIEF N Their Punching Power, Haye & Prince R VERY Similar... Like Hamed, Haye has HUGE Legs, which is No Doubt where the Bulk of his Power GENERATES From... Like U, REED was INSTANTLY Reminded of Prince, Afterwards...Haye was Sooooooooo RELAXED During his Ringwalk, REED Half Expected him to Start Dancing... REED
