Wow, a Ruiz thread is more popular than Pac, Mosley, or Mayweather (Ok, Mayweather is not that surprising).[IMG]

There would be something to talk about if Mayweather wasn't in hiding right now. As soon as he announces that he is or isn't going to fight Mosley we will have something to talk about.

yes, because he fought for a world title (albeit not THE world title) instead.....don't forget he did hold the European Cruiserweight title.

....besides, i could nearly kill a guy if he was sufficiently overmatched.....ok, a kid maybe.

Every fight Haye has is more and more risk. Like Amir Khan he can only run that risk so often before he suffers another smashing. Haye is the ultimate cherry picking fighter. His whole thing is to get a payday. The fight against the best at EBU level would have involved as much risk as Valuev, if not a whole lot more.

Irish, do you remember the name of that guy who Vitaly "nearly killed" while defending his precious European title?

Haye's actually taken a far harsher, riskier, route to a world title than any other british world champion for some time. He hasn't even had that many fights.

Putting this very debatable notion aside (Sosnowski is the current champ, no great shakes), you think that Haye (or any boxer) should actively seek the riskiest fights, regardless of what is at stake...be it money, a title, or recognition?

So, does anyone know who was this fearsome fighter that Vitaly fought in the defense of his precious EBU title?

Holyfield dropped Mercer with a left hook to the head. Mercer backed up after getting hurt with the left hook, then took a knee.

You mean, in the same way as Vitaly was no show for Rahman?
Or the same way Vitaly was no show for McCline?
Or in the same way Vitaly was no show for Valuev?
Or in the same way Vitaly was no show for Maskaev?

Yes, and if you could just clarify that a bit....
Is he no show in the same way as Vitaly was no show for Rahman?
Or the same way Vitaly was no show for McCline?
Or in the same way Vitaly was no show for Valuev?
Or in the same way Vitaly was no show for Maskaev?

The way Vitaly was no show for his first time with Rahman?
Or the way Vitaly was no show for his second time with Rahman?
Or the way Vitaly was no show for his third time with Rahman?
Or the way Vitaly was no show for his fourth time with Rahman?

Oh really? That's ok. The most important thing is that he shows up for the fight.
Let me give you an example.
Vitaly showed up at the press-conference before his first attempt to fght Rahman (a guy, who Ruiz previously easily defeated). He didn't show up for the actual fight with Rahman, though.
Then Vitaly showed up at the press-conference before his second attempt to fght Rahman (a guy, who Ruiz previously easily defeated). He didn't show up for the actual fight with Rahman, though.
Then Vitaly showed up at the press-conference before his third attempt to fght Rahman (a guy, who Ruiz previously easily defeated). He didn't show up for the actual fight with Rahman, though.
Then Vitaly showed up at the press-conference before his fourth attempt to fght Rahman (a guy, who Ruiz previously easily defeated). He didn't show up for the actual fight with Rahman, though.

Quite possible, but I think until "The Quiet Man" doesn't show up for the actual fight (4 times in a row, the way a certain ukranian coward did), we shouldn't worry too much about that.
