Nate is really gassed right now, really out of shape. Look at him sucking wind, and he is a better all around fighter than Funeka, but not in condition to take advantage of that fact.
Nate is off balance, and falling forward, tired and looks no part of the fighter that took apart Juan Diaz last year.
No way Funeka can get a decision now, the kid is chinny as hell. Nate can´t even punch hard anymore and is gassed. Maybe he has fortuned they don´t take piss tests in Mexico.
Let´s be honest Funeka is nothing. Losing to Mzonke Fana, who Barrera carried for a round and wasted in two rounds.
that fight happened when he was in his 15th or 16th pro fight. I guess boxers can't ever improve. :bangh:
Tough fight, but Nate won IMO,, outgutted Funeka and pressed forward when he didn't have much in the tanks. He needs to move up to jr welter.
He seems very humble and respectful tonight. I could root for him if he acts like this. I hope he gets a decent payday at 140 but I believe he gets beat up there.
Improve? Based on what has he improved. I guarantee you every top fighter drops Funeka dead. Yes he has some fundamentals down, but he also just stood there and allowed Campbell to rip of his telegraphed right hands. His chin is crap. The only reason Campbell didn´t stop Funeka tonight, was that he was so tired he could only lean on Funeka to support himself and punch at the same time.
I thought fights were won by who threw and landed the most punches? Seeing as how Funeka seemed to do that most of the fight I thought he should have won even with Nate's KD's. I didn't score it though so I won't argue it either way. Was a good fight though.
I dont think anyone has ever accused Campbell of not training hard. He's supposedly a gym rat, and I'm inclined to believe it. I dont like him, but I believe him that his body simply cant make the fight. I dont see him doing well at 140 however, and I think he hit his peak in the Diaz fight, and will never be the same again.
I don't want to rub it in, but yes that's pretty retarded. :: Did you see him fight Barrera?? He is fucking awful. One of the worst "champions" ever, surely.
Watch the fight with the sound off, and an objective mind, panchy. It was much closer than the HBO crew (which consists of 3 schmucks with ZERO boxing experience, and one former ring great) had it. Maritnez won, but not by that much.
There were a lot of close rounds, but I gave most of them to Martinez because I thought he was slightly more effective. I can see someone having to closer for sure, depending on what you like.
Interesting night of fights, completely ruined by a fucking HORRIBLE decision, some of the worst officiating I've ever seen and a bad decision in the main.
No it really wasn't. You just sat there and said whoever lands the most effective punches wins. Well I can't count how many times Martinez waited for Cintron to throw that lazy jab and then bounce his counter right off of Cintron's face, which by the way was the same punch that dropped Cintron. That fight was not close, Cintron sucks and lost clearly to everyone but you and the judges. Also the rule isn't just the most effective punches. If you throw two great shots and the other guy hits you with a hundred, I'd tend to think the guy who landed a hundred deserves that rd. Besides, Funeka's punches were pretty hard and solid too and Nate really trailed off after the 3rd rd. Like I said I didn't score it, I was just pointing out that a fight isn't won because a guy sucks it up and just comes forward no matter how many rules you try to throw at me.
