Those Kazakhs probably spent a few quid bringing in these US imports (Ruben Galvan also on card, as was Joppy), its promoted by Sumenov and the mafia I presume, so theres no way it was going to be simply cancelled

How does that make any sense to take Lee vs. Duddy out of MSG? NYC even has a large Ukrainian population.

I would bet HBO made a promise to Martinez to give him the winner of Duddy/Lee as a soft touch after the Dzinziruk fight.

 

HBO really fucked up this one.

The whole point of agreeing to Lee-Duddy was to allow for a viable ticket seller @ MSG. The fight itself isn't necessarily HBO-level, but allows DiBella to at least put some asses in the seat and create a rabid atmosphere in a NYC venue.

Martinez-Dzinziruk in Foxwoods really doesn't need a ticket-selling co-feature, since they'll be left with a stale, present-day Boxing After Dark-like atmosphere.

I just don't get the decision making over there or how there isn't a constant personell turn over.

Duddy does have some NE exposure, thanks as much to some of the guys he fought as anything else. Regardless, two Micks fighting could drum up a following in a vaccum. Lee really is a piece of work, I can't think of an Irish fighter, apart from Ben Dunne, that I think less of.

 

HBO could have Klitschko-Chisora and Williams-TBA on April 30.

Berto-Ortiz (147) and Khan-McCloskey could be the line-up for April 16th.

 

It's a shame Ortiz is having to step up. He's already stocky and his strength advantage is a facet of his style, don't know how he'll handle 147. But if he's having weight problems that might explain his inexplicable passiveness in the 2nd half of his last fight (cost me money!).

Berto-Ortiz is a very interesting fight though, I'll be excited to see that.

 

I don't think McCloskey is a goer, but yeah, Khanvs tba & Berto/Ortiz is a very decent double bill

 

Don't care about Dzirunik and I'm an hardcore fan, keeps hearing he's a solid fighter but fought no one save Santos and he keeps refusing fights. I don,t see why hbo is pushing so much for him to fight Martinez. At least Lee is known and has an exciting style. Maybe Dzirunik is good but at least but him on the undercard vs a name guy before giving him a main event spot. Cause last I heard from his is that he was on the decline.

Alway's knew Bradley-Alexander was gonna be shit, that's why I didn't even bothered watching it. Bradley is just awfull to watch and Devon's too much of a runner. Shame that HBO put so much money and future dates for 2 guy's that just don't sell or makes for interesting fights. No wonder boxing sucks if the top dog ( HBO ) keeps making dumbass decisions.

 

Berto-Ortiz looks to be a decent fight, but what bothers me is that Berto fights yet another fighter coming up in weight and that Ortiz, after laying an egg vs Peterson, gets rewarded with an high profile fight and a title shot. HBO playing favorite once again.

Khan vs McDonald figures to be a shamefull mismatch and it's a damn shame how Amir lowball his opponent. Shows just how much of a scum human being he really is, but yet, the 200 000$ he offered Petterson seemed like decent money to me for a guy like Lamont
