If Holyfield isn't able to badly hurt Spinks, he doesn't win the fight. And since Holy didn't have one punch power against even average heavyweights, I gotta go with Spinks.

Prime Holyfield only lost to Bowe....who was better than all of the aforementioned.

Secondly Tucker had nothing to beat Evander. Tucker was just a big tough guy that relied on outlasting people. Tucker wasn't a particularly hard hitter, didn't have fast punches. He was just big with a good chin.

Put such a fighter up against Evander and there's only one result:

    Evander by clear decision.

I think Holyfield would have whipped Spinks in 1988.

So the Holyfield that lost to Moorer wasn't in his prime? Wow, that's amazing since he beat Bowe 5 months earlier and Tyson a year later.

Did Holyfield jump in and out of his prime?

I guess you haven't heard of Holyfield's fatal heart problems that his faith made disappear (whenever he didn't need an excuse)

no. IMO, Holyfield's prime ended after the first Bowe fight before he bulked up.

I think the Evander that beat Tyson, was already on the slide...it's just that he still had a couple good performances left in him. He had a shoulder injury going into the Moorer fight anway, I don't put too much stock into that loss.

Excuses or no, Holyfield looked like a dead man against Moorer and especially against Bowe III.

I would definitely pick a prime Holyfield to beat Spinks.

What about the Holyfield that beat Bowe? Where was he in the whole prime versus non-prime debate?

I love how boxing fans can put an exact date on a fighter's prime. "It ended after the first Bowe fight.."

Oh, I know all about the heart condition. I'm just shocked that, in addition to healing his heart, that his prime couldn't get extended a year or two. Should he have consulted a better faith healer?

Ok I'll include the Bowe fight....I just thought that objectively speaking pointing to the pre-bulk up was an objective marker. I could also include the Moorer fight...problem is though that his performance in that fight was irrelevant due to him entering injured. After that fight though he was never the same...although he did have a brief resurgence against Tyson and in the rematch with Moorer.

Based on Ike agreeing with me, I'd like to take back everything I previously posted. Sorry Sly, you were right.

If Mike Moorer can beat him, all of these guys are capable

People overrate the hell out of Evander... he was in one tough fight after another

Honestly, after beating Buster Douglas, nothing was easy for Evander. Even Bobby Freaking Czyz was difficult to some extent.
