I think Gavilan has too many advantages here - i.e.: height, range, boxing skill, natural size, plus he can match Armstrong's speed and pace.
I'd pick Armstrong to out-work Gavilan, but Keed to out-speed him. Gavilan would be getting off first, putting together much more aesthetic combos and showing a better defence with some good counter punching, but I think Armstrong's toughness and bullishness takes Gavilan out of his comfort zone more than he'd like. Also, Gavilan had a lot of trouble and arguably lost to Basilio, does that have an effect here? Armstrong was smaller, but better, and similar to Carmen. I think this is 50/50, but I tend to lean toward Armstrong based on styles. Gavilan was an unbelievable fighter though, and is undoubtedly one of the best WWs ever.
