This is exactly the kind of fight that should be on HBO - a fight between two of the best fighters in the division. Can't wait to see Hopkins lose. Can't wait! Bad Chad!

    word.

Still part of me wishes that B-Hop will retire and keep his tremendous legacy intact. Every fight he has increases that chance that he'll suffer an embarrasing KO defeat.

Are you going to bitch if/when HBO can't afford more exciting bouts later in the year?

Can a KO defeat really be embarassing when you're 47 or older?

that's what I'm thinking too, even if he quit, he won't be the only legend to go out this way and these are the kind of things that are forgave most of the time.

Any era, eh? Yes, as long as he fought at junior welterweight where most of his legacy was established. Had Hopkins fought a mere 5 years earlier, there would be no Hopkins. Of course he would have ducked Benn, Watson, Eubank, Collins, Nunn, Toney and fought and defeated Terry Norris. So, he be a legend to dolts like you. After he would have called out Julio Cesar Chavez. Hopkins was humiliated by Joe Calzaghe someone I doubt you think is great. Hopkins is the biggest fraud in the history of boxing bar none. There is nothing, nothing in his resume that can be used to show he is a legend or even a great fighter. Sorry, but being the middleweight champ and losing to the only two good fighters he ever fought at that weight... doesn't show me anything.

Anytime you need another slapping, I am only too happy to help.

I hear you. But still. Why doesn't the dude just fucking retire so that he can say that he's never been knocked out and has been competitive with or beaten everyone he's ever faced.

Showtime can afford good fights and have a smaller budget. With any luck Chad can beat the dogshit out of B-Hop for 12 rounds and we never have to watch him on a premium network again.

My role as a fan isn't to prioritize HBO's budget or to speculate on which fights are worth the money and which aren't.

You do know that Hopkins isn't undefeated, right? That he's a mere mortal?

Yes. And I'm still a huge fan of his. What does that do for your theory?

Sly is lying. He doesn't really like Hopkins much, it's just a ruse to detract from the Floyd huggery.

Man, you're smarter than I thought. You hit the nail on the head and exposed me.

Same thing with Calzaghe, Jones, Ali, Lewis, Louis, Tyson, Holyfield.....

My bitching has gone no further than to complain about the quality of fights HBO shows. I don't pretend to have access to the information necessary to have a position on how HBO's limited resources should be optimized with respect to maxiizing our enjoyment as spectators.

My point is, a vote for Hopkins/Dawson II should not be interpreted by anyone as a vote against some other good fight being shown. At face value, knowing what I know, Hopkins/Dawson II is precisely the kind of fight that should be on HBO. The amount of disappointment in this thread alone, among those who incorrectly assumed this fight were on PPV, is evidence of that.

I wish the fight was on PPV. I'd rather watch exciting fights on regular HBO.

between these two the fight may have the all time worst collective grills ever to share a boxing ring. excepting british domestic fights, of course.
