That was a boxing show in that video, right? Because he didn't say one fucking thing about Dawson's boxing, did he? And isn't that supposed to at least be the pretense for discussion on a boxing show?

The other thing is, Hopkins might be legendary in boxing circles, and be admired by writers and fans, but he's not exactly Arturo Gatti either when it comes to filling seats.

I personally don't know who the fuck Cleverly is. And I also see years of precedence to suggest why a fighter from across the pond would be proactive about poo-pooing a fight on American soil against an American champion.

And I loved his very responsible comment about Shaw not being liked in the industry. It sounded like a girl gossiping: "Everyone hates him..."

Either way, it's interesting to consider what might have happened in a Dawson/Calzaghe fight. And looking back, it's not obvious why there wasn't more clamor for that fight, or for Calzaghe/Adamek.

 

Well, I almost fell for it. I had watched the average card in Liverpool and was in a definite 'let's watch some more boxing' type of mood, saw the HBO card was on Werren's new channel for free and I nearly stayed up to watch it. Then I remembered it was Hopkins, that cheating, devious, boring, racist old fuck who was fighting and I changed my mind and went to bed instead. Imagine my surprise, then, when i woke up and checked to see what had happened, and it turned out that the whole thing was a complete farce.

A lucky escape...

I got tired and went back to bed before watching it, in bed, on the stream.

I was all wasted from the 4 decisions I had watched that night.

Then they left the "excitement" till last.
