Hopkins talking about fouling. Hopkins talking about rematches. Hopkins making threats. And Kellerman entertaining him all throughout.

 

Obviously there's going to be an appeal.

Being as Golden Boy is the promoter i wouldn't be in the least surprised if the decision was over turned.

 

Did Dawson commit a foul? It isn't clear from what you guys are saying happened. No foul and I think TKO is the right call, right? An NC is for unintentional fouls usually or something odd like a foul ending the fight, but you want to protect an undefeated record (Bowe/Mathis).

 

This will get turned over and reversed.

 

I don't know if Bernard was faking, I'm not him, I didn't fall down... BUT, I do know that it is IRRELEVANT

No foul occured, a TKO or possibly a NC is okay by me, but to grill Dawson like it's his fault is debased

Bernard's moves are things that were part of every old schooler's arsenal, but they were used when you are HURT and need to create time to clear your head... think of them as emergency provisions... no one ever tried using them half a dozen times PER ROUND in order to win decisions... as soon as he missed that counter right, he looked to prevent any possible BOXING reaction from Dawson by draping himself over his back... at that point, the official would separate them and the cycle would be resumed, THAT was the plan... he's done it in EVERY FIGHT since he's been on his senior tour... Dawson likely was aware that this was going to be done to him and sought to establish VERY EARLY that he would not be a willing victim to this tactic... In an amazingly ironic turn, Dawson wins this "fight" by doing something that is unquestionably OLD SCHOOL, immediate ruthless response to a cheap move

 

Yeah he did. He tossed Hopkins down. It all gets weird after that.

 

No. Hopkins threw a big shot, and Dawson slipped it. As Chad slipped it, Hopkins used his momentum to carry on and climb up over and onto Dawsons back. Dawson shrugged him off and Hopkins went through the ropes and onto the apron. Hopkins landed on his butt, then rolled over onto his shoulder.

 

dammit, Irish, I have never ONCE disagreed that Kellerman blows!

 

Kind of a "half" foul in response to a typical dirty Hopkins tactic.

I love how he complained afterward about being thrown down and saying "This isn't MMA"

I think "threw" is a bit of an exaggeration but like cdogg said it was a response to Hopkins tactics.

Obviously nobody wanted to see the fight end this way but it was nice to see somebody not putting up with Hopkins shit.

 

He was preventing Bernard from committing the foul of CLIMBING ON HIS BACK in order to prevent any possible punching reaction and to enable the official to separate them

This is what Bernard DOES now

he was once a great fighter, many moons ago... a technician... dirty at times, but aggressive, mean dirty, I want to beat you up dirty... in the last few years, during this "historic" run, he has become "I don't wish to engage you in any way" dirty...

Dawson did what about 5 guys before him should have done

you climb on a guy's back on purpose numerous times per fight, I don't have any sympathy if he STANDS UP and you fall off of him

 

Pat Russell obviously decided that Bernard was faking.

Hopkins already said that "Schaefer gone do his thing"

So that means we get it reversed to a NC and a rematch.

 

He shrugged him off like a coal-man letting a bag of coal slide off his shoulder onto the ground.

 

It was gonna be a boring fight anyway. I don't think Bernard was faking but Dawson didn't do anything that was convincing me of his "greatness".

This will probably get overturned. I just hope I don't see it again.

I will say it again, Dawson is not that good. I don't see anything about him particularly great and I wouldn't be surprised if Pascal beats him again.... Dawson really blows.

Hopkins seriously needs to hang em up. He's done all he can. Eventually facing these younger guys will take a toll on him.
