Hop for me. Monzon was a bit slow and stiff, so I think Hopkins movement and slickness would trouble him a lot. And he wouldn't enjoy his usual height and reach advantage against bhop, so his usual style of leaning back and countering with the straight right would probaly be not verry effective.
Hopkins had like an inch of height over Monzon, nothing substantial. Monzon's officially listed at 5'11, but to me he looked a lot closer to 6'0. He also and had a longer reach than Hopkins fought and fought TALL. I go back and forth on this matchup. Hopkins movement would give Monzon problems, but Monzon's jab and accuracy would give Hopkins a lot of problems.
If I pick Hopkins....a little shit will say that I've never seen Monzon fight, but nevertheless I pick Hopkins...in a very close one. Monzon was methodical but effective and he'd bother Bernard, but Bernard's more innovative style and the fact that Monzon was used to fighting shorter opponents bodes well for The Executioner in this one and he gets a close decision.
It's not speculation, Hidalgo. You never have seen Monzon fight. Which explains why a few weeks when we were discussing Rodrigo Valdez you were like "I know not of this Valdez guy..."
