The same can be said of the entire fight when Jesus Chavez was winning against Levander Johnson. IMO Johnsohn never looked as bad at any one point of that fight, than Marquez looked "fighitng back" against Vasquez in the sixth round. That man died from an accumulation of punches that were never enough to nearly have him out, and certainly never even close to having him look as in trouble as other opponents who have been knocked out. That is NOT a knock on Marquez, who is a tough guy as he showed repeatedly. Vasquez had rocked Marquez three rounds earlier, and Marquez reeled away MORE than he had in the third round WITHOUT a hard reciprocating shot (unlike the third round) and up to that time had shown that his "hands up" had been NONEFFECTIVE in blocking Vasquez's punches... I'm sorry, but saying that something has a chance of happening is not a reason to have that particular fight continue if the person is clearly hurt and the probability of a turnaround is shrinking at a fast pace. Yes it could have gone on...and the possible outcomes were Vasquez landing more punches Marquez landing more punches Neither man throwing punches (which could be a lull in the action and have a look at the cuts) -fight continues -fight is stopped others less likely (ex: fouls leading to DQ or NC, another injury, etc) Out of all of those, the ref has to consider the consequences of each one. Somehow with that list I don't see why that stoppage is so bad.
That's because you're a fucking moron. The ref did a fine job all round, he did nothing wrong at all, and he should be applauded for knowing to stop it at EXACTLY the right time.
