Will you pay to see them fight someone other than each other?

Must be nice. All the sports bars in my area that used to show boxing only show cage fighting now. Fuck I hate cage fighting.

Boxing has lost its mass appeal. The game now is about pinching as much cash from hard-core fans like myself.

I often wonder if I wouldn't be better off, once the immediate pain subsided, if boxing were suddenly no longer available to watch.

Basically, if you bother to learn anything about the sport and it's competitors, you can't help but be disappointed and frustrated. So in fact, the only road to satisfaction, when it comes to watching boxing, is to know very little about it - to simply take what they feed you. And even then, it's a diamond in the rough when the fights are good. Oh brother.

Boxing has been like this for as long as I've been around. The cash grab isn't exactly a new phenomenon.

    It IS Nice...

On Fight Nights, the Sports Bars R Littered w/SOMEWHAT Knowledgeable Fans & REED Usually Arranges Fight Watching Parties w/Some of the Local Fighters Present...Good Times, Good Boxing Convo's, Drinks APLENTY, Flirting w/Waitresses, etc...

Floyd vs. Dela is the Last Floyd PPV REED Ordered...Pac-Morales III is the Last Pac PPV that REED Ordered...Granted, REED can "Afford" to Do This Knowing AHEAD of Time that the Fights will B REPLAYED a Week Later...If Not for that, REED Would've Likely Purchased ALL of their Ensuing PPV's...

It may not be new, but it is ever-increasing. And when you think about the quality of fights that used to be on HBO (non-PPV) as recently as the 90's, let alone what had been on network TV in the 80's, compared to now, it's easy to see that the cash-grab has gotten substantially worse.

It's a situation where every top fighter with a big name promoter can't be expected to fight a guy he might lose to unless it's on PPV.

Need I remind you that Hopkins/Dawson was on PPV. And had it not been, it would not have been made. Plain and simple.

Andrew Should Leave Innocuous Boxing References in ALL of his Televised Pieces...Eventually, Viewers will Pick Up on it & Perhaps Be INFLUENCED into Checking Out More Boxing...

Give us a date or time period you are referring to. That could be a 20 year range depending on what you mean.
