I haven't followed this thread lately, but what is wrong with being a former NFL player? Bigdawg and I are as far apart as can be on Michael Vick as a player and a person, but making any NFL roster is a major accomplishment. It doesn't make a person worthy of admiration as anything other than an athlete, but it's not something to bash.

I don't think that NFL players are the best athletes, but the window of opportunity is small, and the pool if players is very limited. Also, there is luck involved. Every person starting isn't the best person available, and many people on the bench could probably play at a high level. Being a professional athlete isn't like most other jobs. In most jobs, people just sit around and wait for a chance. A pro athlete doesn't have thrity years for his big break.

I have no clue how good or bad Bigdawg was, but why bag on him for making an NFL roster when he is such an easy target in other areas? :stir:
