bullshit...mosley's fans were never remotely as extreme as trinidad. sly, seriously, stop being an asshole because you know damn well trinidad groupies were among the most rabid ever seen on internet forums. then again, maybe you can't see it because you were one of them. tito fans were right up there with the hamed fans...the shit was ridiculous.

    This is not strictly true.

It just seems that way because Jones and Trinidad have fallen from grace somewhat through embarrasing defeats and the fact they are each no longer in their prime. (but I will always be abbigger Roy Jones fan than a Floyd fan)

So now Floyd is UNDOUBTEDLY my favourite fighter.

But I was equally a fan of Floyd then as I am now. Hell I picked Floyd to beat Duran in MMs way back in 2001. Who else had the AUDACITY to make such a claim at the time?

Massman was Extreme, Jaydawg was pretty extreme too, but I agree with you, in general Tito's fans were more extreme, perhaps only because of their number...

Dude the Mosley fans were RIDICULOUS. by the way...you were not one of the extreme ones. But your buddy...Von333 (very intelligent and articulate poster) was absolutely horrendous in his descriptions of Shane. To him Shane was perfect in every way.

Even the most rabid Tito fans (Cupey, Everlast, Raffy) admitted his limitations.

But with Shane fans...he could do everything. Someone people even went as far as claiming his was a combination of Jones, McCallum, Duran and some other dudes.

    Y'all were DAMNED RIDICULOUS!

    Thank heaven for Vernon Forrest......

Yep..MASSMAN was one of the extreme ones...and even worse than him was MARZ. Marz actually said that Shane was the best fighter ever in the history of boxing.

There was some pretty extreme Tito haters to balance out though. Some guys (and the were numerous) were picking against him in each and every fight, from the DLH fight to the Hopkins fight (and even the Cherifi fight to add insult to injury )... That didn't help the Titosites to calm themselves.

I don't remember MARZ... Since I wasn't an integral part of the debates, I just remember the most extreme cases. Also, Massman was typing everything in caps. I remember everytime he was accused of making outrageous comments he replied " I'M JUST KEEPING IT REAL!".

Yeah..Darrell was an EXTREME Tito hater (Phonetap was borderline in that regard also). He was to Tito what Double L is to Floyd......only far worse. I'm sure that the moment Hopkins Koed Trinidad...dude must have had an uncontrollable orgasm.

    Oh the memories.....

please the hate tito got was nowhere near that of roy jones...who was the undisputed champion of hated fighters during his prime years. the jones love/hate ratio was indeed balanced....for every 1 tito hater, there were 10 nuthuggers to drown them out. the largest mass exodus ever in the history of boxing forums came after tito got his ass whipped by hopkins...legions of them dropped off the face of the earth instantly.

as far as tito haters go...this goes without saying...all successful fighters have haters "however", you'd have to look long and hard to find a tito hater who could ever approach slystaffs historical hatred for shane mosley. sly has hated mosley from the moment he first appeard on boxing forums...it's almost as if that was his main purpose to come online.

I remember Darrell too. Esk was a pretty vocal hater too. I think Petre was too... To be fair though and support you a little bit, I remember you were pretty much the only guy at SO that had the courage to point out Shane's limitation. He was looking damn good and there was not a lot of people that were too keen on trying to dissect Shane's style and skills, nuthugger or not. Personally, I wasn't sure who was better between him and Roy even though it is pretty obvious today.

agREED. Tito fans were WAY worse than Mosley fans. I was an active SecondsOut forum member then and there is no comparison between the Tito and Mosley fans. I was never much of a Tito fan, but I actually found myself rooting for Tito to lose just so his nuthuggers would shut the Hell up!!!

 Well, I don't know Sly's motivation, but he was certainly the first, or one of the first, to point out some of Shane's weaknesses. As for Roy being hated, I can't disagree... For some, it looked like pure crazyness. During the Roycott, it was almost cooler to be a Roy hater than a Roy fan (not even a nuthugger).

huh? prime for prime the answer is jones....past-prime for past-prime the answer is mosley. phonetap doesn't think there is much of a debate on that issue so stop sweating slystaff.

Now there isn't much debate, but back then, Shane looked so damn good that I wasn't sure if he wasn't a better fighter PFP than Roy. Just because of his sheer ferocity and the way he was handling everyone. Today, with the benefit of hindsight, it's pretty obvious Roy was but back then I wasn't sure, that's all I'm saying tap.

And that's the point I'm making.

Sly said he was a bigger fan of Floyd at that time than he was Mosley and Trinidad.

    That is not true.

You obviously haven't read my response. What's so "ownage" about that? I never said I wasn't a Trinidad fan?

I'm not downplaying anything. I was certainly a Tito fan back then but I NEVER said that he was a better fighter than either Mayweather or Roy Jones. NEVER EVER EVER EVER. you and phonetap BOTH know this.

and while you are saying this don't act like trinidad wasn't ALSO being touted as P4P #1 fighter in the world during that time period. don't for a second believe sLIEstaffs assertion that he turned on mosley (from being a supposed fan) because of shane's fans when sly was playing tarzan, swinging from back-and-forth from felix trinidad's testicles...a fighter, who's fanbase was far more rabid than mosley's. does that reasoning for mosley hate make any fucken sense? c'mon!!!!!

I said Trinidad would have WHUPPED Shane at 154lbs when Von333, Marz, Massman, PetreTG, Phonetap...etc were syaing the opposite.

learn how to read english slystaff...muzse has been repeatedly saying you were a bigger fan of trinidad over mayweather back then and that's 100% true. whether you think (or thought) of trinidad as the better fighter is irrelevant.

I disagree with the bolded part. It was a close fight, but to say it could've went either way is to suggest that you can make a case for Shane winning the fight. That, I can't see.

I had Cotto winning by a point (6-5, 1 rd even), watching it as it happened, and was expecting it to be a draw. But there were a couple of close rounds I scored for Shane, whereas Cotto without a doubt won at least six rounds. Score any close rounds the other way, and it's Cotto's fight.

Maybe it's just semantics, as the rest of your post sounds like we saw the same fight.

Phonetap you'll say anything right now. I was a HUGE Trinidad fan. Never denied it. Why are you trying to act as though I'm denying it. I was the president of "Team Trinidad" back in S/O days. No shame in that.

    HOWEVER

I have always been a bigger Mayweather fan than Tito. How do YOU determine that I was a bigger Trinidad fan? I ALWAYS said that Mayweather was a better fighter than Trinidad, even you know this. So by WHAT criteria are you suggesting that I was a bigger fan of Trinidad?

    Speak, my son.
