REED Understands YOUR Particular Bias on the Floyd Matter, but WINNING is ALWAYS Looked Upon More Favorably than LOSING...

    ALWAYS..

OVERALL,DeLa was @ Least "as Good" as Benitez,X...He Might BEAT DeLa Head-to-Head,but he's NOT Better on Paper:nono: ...

Floyd DOESN'T have the HUGE Names like Leonard,Hagler & Duran, but he's Got ALOT of Lesser Names like Genaro Hernandez,Diego Corrales,Jose Luis Castillo...& he's Gonna ADD Ricky Hatton & the WINNER of Cotto/Mosley...

REED just CAN'T See how 14th & 3rd Round KO LOSSES can B ON PAR w/WINS Over Elite Opponents of your Era...

Floyd should ALREADY B Rated HIGHER All-Time than Tommy Hearns...& REED is on RECORD Stating that Hearns would BEAT Floyd,Head-to-Head...

But there's also the time in which they fought. Benitez in 1982 was closer to his prime than Oscar @ 154.

I don't want to be too critical of Floyd's win over Oscar since he did get the job done in a weight division he shouldn't be in, but it was still wasn't as impressive as beating Benitez at the time, IMO.

Just to RE-Iterate,REED is Comparing Floyd & Tommy Hearns...

By the Time Hearns BEAT Benitez,Benitez was JUST as "Old","Shot","Done" or Whatever Else U wanna Call it,as DeLa was when he Faced Floyd Earlier this Year...

mayweather is one of the greatest/best whatever the fuck u want to call it, lightweights ever. I don't care about semantics. the guy was at his best at or below the lightweight division. at 130 lbs he was fighting guys bigger than the lightweights of the 80s and prior to then.

A prime DLH is ARGUABLY better than Benitez, but definitely not the over the hill version that Floyd struggled with. Hearns woulda put the DLH that Floyd fought in the ER.

Pernell Whitaker is one of the greatest lightweights ever as well and his resumé there isn't stellar. who gives a fuck? these guys were at their best in the lightweight division and would beat damn near anyone ever at that weight.

I would certainly declare your posting abilities to be on par with durans pugilistic abilities, circa the pj goosen fight.

Floyd could retire right now and be listed amongst the best ever, IMO.
He has nothing left to prove as the best fighter of his era, and a slam dunk first ballot hall of famer.
When you are in the IBHOF, you are amongst the best ever.
At 147, I'd say Floyd is up there with Curtis Cokes, Palomino, Cuevas, all of the greats.

If Floyd retired now he'd still be a top 30-40 all time great, but he'd get alot of flack for not facing Hatton, Cotto, and Shane, and deservedly so. But hell yeah he's easily a first ballot HOFmer. Its not that hard to get in the HOF anyway, Floyd has been a lock for the HOF for YEARS now.

Shit if Ray Mancini, and Pipino Cuevas are in there, Floyd better get in.

Chances are that one day Gatti will make the HOF, does that mean he was a great fighter?

I'm sorry, but Ray Mancini was a hella exciting fighter, and very good, but he wasnt great and he's in.

He sucks. The guy was talking mad sh*t about UFC fighters being nothing but street bums but when he got called out by a guy his own size, he tucked his little tail between his legs and apologized saying "Oh I got mad respect for those guys, I was just trying to hype the fight, Dana knows I love him."
The boxing hall of fame is a joke too. Doesn't mean squat. Nobody cares about Floyd Jr other than some die-hard nutlickers. Only way he can even sell a fight is depending on who he's fighting. He's a ballroom boxer, not ppv material at all. Boring ass joke! He looked like shit against a 35 year old inactive rusty Oscar. There's nothing even remotely impressive about Pretty Boy Jr.
The only thing Jr has going for him is his record. That's where all the hype is. When Roy Jones Jr got knocked off the top of the P4P, people just latched onto the next guy in line.
Thing about Pretty Boy Jr is that his fights don't appeal to the masses. No matter if he's got this supposedly beautiful hit and move style which a few hardcore fans jerk off to, the bottom line is that he was never a natural superstar the way fighters of the past were. He has no charisma, no spark, no ability to carry himself as any type of role model, he's just a fake and a phony, a caricature of a tough guy who talks mad sh*t to cover up his insecurities.
The masses don't like that kind of sh*t. He's not appealing to anybody neither is his style. Even in today's diluted roster of talent, he's not able to transcend the sport at all because he's not only boring as f*ck in the ring, but he's a fraud outside the ring with a fake ghetto character that just doesn't work.
He ain't never gonna be an Ali/Tyson/Leonard type who was loved and adored by people all over the world. The only people who give a sh*t about his little fake ass are the few hardcore boxing fans left in the world.
If his loses that '0', his ass is toast. Every media pundit and expert will sh*t on his career and flush it completely. You know they're gonna question his entire career and his opposition and whether he was overrated all this time.
That's why he fights so scared, to keep that '0'.

He's never been beaten, and Ray Robinson fought the same way you just described many, many times throught the course of his career.

Apples and Oranges, Xplosive. Hearns fought with fire, with the mindset of knocking a guy the f*ck out. Floyd Jr fights to not get hurt and to keep his crappy little undefeated record. That's why everybody boos his ass out of the arena.

I wouldn't rate Oscar anywhere near Benitez, bro.
    Two different classes of fighter.
Benitez was on a higher level than Oscar.
I agree that Floyd would not have matched up well vs Hearns.

It makes perfect sense to me... the fight may not have been a brawl but consumate skills were displayed. When was the last time somone countered a jab as effectively as Mayweather did? It was a chess match and yeah there was an unsaid between the guys not to kill each other maybe but I still think it was a decent contest.

    Oscar wasn't in Benitezs' class.
Wilfred would have done a paint job on him, and Benitez was stronger as well.
I doubt Oscar could have made the 15 with him.

Wilfred would have to have an "on" night and train harder than usual (one mile of roadwork instead of half a mile).
