Pavlik versus Calzighe. At a catch weight.

Margarito versus Baldimore on the undercard.

I, like Ugo can live with old man Hops taking on Calzighe.

I don't think Cotto is ready for Mayweather.

no jew...we need to send you to concentration camp....:nono: Mayweather isn't ready for COTTO...the last few fights Cotto has been getting ready for the showdown against Mayweather.....

fighting Judah and Mosley..to fast..somewhat accurate guys...

Hatton wasn't ready for Mayweather..he never fought anyone as fast..not even close.....and the most accurate guys he fought were Tszyu and Collazo...two fight where he struggle.....and probably lose of of 'em....:nono:

Hatton v Witter is the one I'd personally like to see, though I agree entirely with those saying that the most important fight of the year would be Cotto v Mayweather.

Either would do me just fine...

    Pavlik vs Abraham.

Calzaghe vs Roy I'm pretty certain Calzaghe wins, but I'd still like to see it.

Kessler vs Tarver/Dawson/Johnson/Hopkins To see how good he really is.

In terms of action I'd love to see Diaz-Katsidis, and Cotto-Margarita. And the great thing is both those matchups are likely to happen sometime this year.

I'd also love to see Calz-Pavlik like many others.

But obviously, the BIGGEST fight to be made in the sport right now is w/o question Mayweather-Cotto.

I like Cotto, hes one of my favorites but in those gaps when he is loading up to throw Mayweather will murder him and control him. Cotto needs faster footwork, it has nothing to do with handspeed.

have you seen Cotto before? he is not Baldomir nor is he an old fighter.

I see Cotto's speed and skill are still underrated.

I remember that was the case against Mosley. Mosley was supposed to be faster than him too until they steped in the ring.

Pavlik will expose that smurf before the year is out. His hit list is Taylor, Duddy, then Abraham. They'll all get it in 08.

    War Pavlik!

It's not an issue of speed or skill. Cotto is probably almost as fast as Mayweather and the things he does well he is as skilled. The problem is that when Cotto sets up he steps in from a distance and telegraphs. At this distance Mayweather will counter him all night.

Cotto would need to close that gap a lot quicker. Cotto is a methodical plodder like Louis.... a lot of the great punchers were/are. He takes his time and cuts the ring down slowly. He is incredibly gifted at doing this and smart enough not to chase the opponent but to walk him down. But Mayweather sets up for the counter in this space and Miguel does not have the defensive capability to deal with Mayweather's straight counter punching. Mayweather will find him between the gloves all night... I think Mayweather might KO him actually.

Miguel may get a few chances to rush in like Hatton did, bit Hatton is miuch faster with his feet in closing this gap and about as strong as Cotto. Cotto is a much better puncher than Hatton but he needs faster feet to get near Mayweather. I don't see it happening.
