Kenneth, you and I have had some heated debates in the recent past about Joe and Roy. I'm surprised you seem to have taken this one with Mex so hard. So far as I knew, you were a thick skinned guy who gave and took what needed to be given and taken... :dunno:

That said, I was away during the whole debate and was surprised to see MWS claims that Marg had no guts. He may sling wild, he may be one-dimensional, but he clearly has always shown heart. I have no idea where Mex got this idea from.

As I said to Kauki yesterday- you called it right and to the victor go the spoils. Even if Cotto had somehow pulled that out at the last hour, you could not say that Marg showed no guts.

    Enjoy your victory...

    MTF,

I am VERY thick-skinned. I spent last night forced to defend my Calzaghe-Jones pick against a very prominent writer and a former three-time world champ. Yeah, that was fun!

That said, I think Mex took it too far. I gave him quite a few outs when he initially said that Margarito had average at best heart but he refused to accept. I know you're full of sh*t when you can tell me you watched the second Santos fight and 1) Santos "calmly outboxed him" and 2) Margarito showed no kind of determination. That tells me you'll do anything to be right, even make up and believe your own dung.

Truthfully, if it was anyone else but Margarito, I wouldn't have cared. But to see the type of sh*t Tony has taken on message boards these past couple years (particularly this one), and then to have people go as far as Mex did, well...let's just say I was jumping up and down yesterday at the results.

Ah well, a full day is almost here since the bout and the feeling of joy is wearing off. I think Mex gets the point...at least, I hope so.

:crying: I wept,..watching our god of war rise to the top of the world, on those ring ropes, raising his hands in triumph, over the sheer decadence of malicious frenzying upon his purist being from 'popularist' Fraud and Cotto groupies,. it was a philosophical sight, for the minority Margarito-deciples, who have been a persecuted and opressed people for atleast two years :crying::pray:.

Mex is no more, and probably less disresepctful of the fighters he does not care for than most posters here. And there are many people who are equally disrespectful to Cotto becasue of the loss but that is presumably ok cause he lost?

Look we have funa nd we all have different tolerances to calling fighters bums and this and that.... It is wrong and classless to single out somoene under these circumstances and frankly, one professional writer to another, you know better. I mean this respectfully but grow up

Yeah, you're right. Only I actually expected Mex to show up, respond honestly and we'd move on. The same way I'd be here if I called Calzaghe a gutless joke and then watched him hammer Jones. I guess message board reputation is serious business. Unfortunately, everyone knows who I am. So I have no qualms saying what I say, writing what I write. The rest of you can hide (yet somehow know me by first name) - or suddenly disappear for days.

If you twats noticed, I hadn't even logged in let alone posted for over a week before the fight. And I'm always here in the build up to a fight, and commenting in the RbR thread. Always.

I moved house exactly a week before the fight, and I was hoping I would be able to see it in time, but my new place doesn't even have a fucking PHONELINE let alone broadband.

I finally got a line installed on Friday, I'm on shitty dial up at the moment while I wait for broadband, so I won't be online much.

And Kenneth - fuck you, Margarito is average with no guts, it just so happens Cotto is a bum, which I didn't realise until now.

    Nah I'm just kidding.

I didn't even get to see the fight, I was fucking pissed off. I still haven't seen it.

But the next day I heard about the result and was pretty shocked to be honest.

You can never be too sure in a big fight, but I was pretty sure Cotto would win.

I sincerely just didn't think Margarito was good enough.

And kenneth, stop all this blind hate bullshit, I've told you before, I don't even hate margarito. I've picked him in most of the fights he's had, I'm on record doing so, and I even bet on him against Williams.

The simple fact is, I just didn't think he was that good, or anything "special" as many have claimed over the years. Not blind hate at all, just an opinion of him as a fighter.

Like I said, I haven't even seen the fight, but based on the result, it sounds like it was a - yes - gutsy performance.

Props to Margarito and the groupies that have sung his praises over the years.

I'm still surprised, I just didn't think he was good enough to beat a fighter of Cotto's calibre.

I can't wait to see the fight actually, I'll download it as soon as I have broadband, in HD, and watch it on my new plasma.

MTF - just to clear things up a bit, I NEVER said Marge had no guts. If Kenneth claims this, he is lying.

I DID however say that Marge has overrated guts. I thought he would be discouraged by Cotto's hard, accurate punches. From the sounds of things, I was wrong

Dsimon - yeah, at least it's made up for the lack of internet, and moving to a shitty road :mj:

By the way, big fights from the US are on here at like 4 am usually, so obviously no bars show them, they are all closed.

I wanted to see the fight so much, that I was going to walk to a bar I know has WiFi, and just stand outside with my laptop, standing up, and watch it on Sopcast

However, my girlfriend got upset with this idea, and thought I would get into fights etc, so I had to bite the bullet and not go.

Fucking annoying, I had been looking forward to seeing this fight for ages, and would have loved to see it live, even if Cotto did lose.

thats weird, I mean wouldn't some of your mates want to have a look at the fight as well if you picked it up on Wifi?

Thats funny because I remember years ago this Irish bar had the football games on and I asked them if they could show a fight (the bars had the fights back then) and they did get cheeky! Go figure.

Hope this girlfriend is a cutey if she is a pain in the ass Mex. :eek:fft:

You didn't just pick a fight wrong. You JOINED a BANDWAGON saying they were NEVER IMPRESSED with a fighter. That said fighter went out and FUCKED UP a 3-1 favorite, making everyone on that fagwagon (you included) looking like a complete fucking MORON.

Had nothing to do with me, D, just reminding you of your posts.

You know what, man? I'm just happy to see Margarito get the respect he's deserved for many, many years. And it was a fight fan's dream, like most of his fights have been. And hopefully you'll realize exactly what type of fighter he is when you DO see the fight. Not just "good enough to beat a fighter of Cotto's calibre." but just better than Cotto period. At least on this night.

Thats true, namelyI didn't think Margarito was that good. I don't know I tend to think of it as fun... like opioning about who I think is good who sucks, I don't know that I think that makes somoene a moron. I know in the reverse if Margarito had not been able to take Cotto's punch despite any disagrements I would not have thought Mitchell was a moron for thinking Margarito was good.

A little crow is great but what burns my ass is people who say they are leaving the forum then come back to mock and mock and mock. And the truth is a lot of people who claim a great prediction record got a lot of help from the judges. Also, when mocking it is important to acknowledge the whole picture. This is important to me because imo if you look at a picture of the wiegh in you can tell Cotto was going to have a problem.

Ike did some of the same mocking but he has a sense of humor about it and frankly the truth is that he did always say Cotto was no good so yeah he gets to run with that one a little bit. And so do you... To a point.

Look the truth is if one simply went with the board majority here every time and occasionaly picked an underdog based on good info, they could have a great prediction record... but that would not be as much fun would it?
