It was boring as shit. They said they did a story about destiny's child only instead of 3 hot chicks we get a bunch of tards slobbering all over each other.
Agree. Shit, Diaz already sounds like he's slurring his speech. Either that or he's just really, really tired all the time. :dunno:
It's part of the networks selling a certain image of a fighter. You guys expect HBO to just go on the air and start the fight? They have to create an image for every fighter. Diaz happens to be a schoolboy and is doing something that's hard to do by boxing and going to school at the same time. It's nothing new they do that with every fighter.
There's nothing wrong with just telling us a story about how the fighter came up, his amateur background, olympics etc. We don't have to hear the same story over and over just in case tonights fans missed his last fight.
Well, with other fighters you get the "same story" about their background every time they fight on a major network....why is Diaz different? It's part of his background. He also is/was a partly unified champ who is going to school while he trains and defends his belt. It's no small matter. Peace.
Yep... & N Terms of T.V. Networks & Other Media Outlets it's BEST to ASSume that NOBODY Knows the "Story" of a Particular Figher... For those of Us who Watch EVERY Major Fight, SURE, the Shit Gets OLD...But there's THOUSANDS of Peeps Watching EVERY Major Fight that have NEVER Heard the "Story" of a Particular Fighter... REED
I agree. Everyone knows he is a nice and good kid as I have documented many times here before, but the networks have been shoving that down our throats for four years now. Just call the fucking ring action is what I say. Yes, I know he is intriguing, but let us stick to boxing. I think HBO will now seeing as he lost last night. Yes, I like Juan and Mr. Savannah and they have done a lot for me, but let's stick to boxing for now, ok HBO?
I don't get it either, Diaz is studying in political science, far from one of the hardest discipline to be polite. Not to try to dismiss what he's doing, it requires tremendous discipline to achieve what he's doing, but I can think of many boxers who obtained a degree while pursuing their boxing career yet we hardly ever hear about them.
Yeah, lets not celebrate a young athlete, who's taking care of his future outside of the ring with an education. I mean, we should focus on all the high schoolers and drop outs who turn pro (in any sport) hella early, fail and then turn to drugs and crime to make a living. Etienne, Tyson, Butler and Letterlough should be the poster childs for people to be proud of. For real.
Idiot? I'm not the one taking a shot at a guy who's trying to make something of himself outside of the sport. Thats what you guys are good at.
It is not him Craig, it is HBO looking for an "Up close and personal" aspect to their telecast. Juan does not mind talking about his school and political ambitions, but he does not volunteer that info to a media representative unless they ask him directly how things are with school and the specifics behind it.
Yeah, I get that and you know what? I encourage it. There isn't enough stories of success like Diaz' and I wish more athletes had the oportunities and will to succeed like he does. I don't min HBO, ESPN or anyone else saturating the media with the info. If even one kid picks up on the story and follows into his footsteps, it's a success. Far more than a bunch of whiny malcontents, angry that their viewing is intterupted a few times every 6 months by a story on his education.
I don't pay good money to have HBO, and then listen to some shit about a dude attending classes on some small-time downtown college. I pay for my HBO to see that motherfucker FIGHT...and only that...FIGHT. I don't give a flying fuck about what he does outside the friggin' ring (short of raping or murdering somebody)...that's his business not mine. Yes, good for him...but don't place him on a high and mighty pedestal like that's supposed to impress anybody here...if he wants a decent future in case his boxing career doesn't pan out, then it should be an automatic thing for him...like I said...good for him...but nothing out of the ordinary. So lets not get your collective little penises dripping with glee here. opcorn:
"Baby bull" ..Yes please, I love it :: , I'd rather learn about a baby bull going to cow college, than have to hear the wanking over Fraud's virtual resume, cross-over appeal and ppv numbers. 'LOL at al hoo sed dat diaz wood giv lil Floyd a tuff fite at 135!' p4p4p4p4p4pffffffffft
you guys are overreacting like they show an hour of their personal stuff. It's maybe 10 minutes of a guy's life and preparation coming into the fight. And it's nothing new so why does it bother now? :dunno: To me it's more annoying when there is a PPV card. Because they usually hire more idiots to cover the fight. Guys like Bob Costas, James Brown, and all these clowns that only show up once or twice a year to discuss a big boxing fight. They don't add nothing to the event except be there to make it look bigger than it is. Showtime will sometimes interview celebrities from their networks about the up coming fight. Usually they don't even know the fighters.
Neither was the topic starter. I'm sure most of us think it's great that he studies too. I think it's cool that MAB studied law and ended up choosing boxing etc. The studying bit is irrelevant, if you read the original post, he mentions Hatton too. It's the concept of being told the same thing time after time that's annoying, and it's at least as annoying with Hatton as with Diaz. It has nothing to do with him going to college, it's just the forcefeeding aspect that's annnoying.
