Because they are photos mate. Just photos. For the same reason, I don't get all twisted out of shape out of future-hall-of-famer Oscar De La Hoya rolling around in nylons and heels.

    You don't understand.

Dempsey beats Moorer. Moorer beats Vitali. Then Dempsey beats Vitali twice on the same day in front of 200,000 people in a field with a gate of £10 and 4 Shillings.

1994 or earlier, any version of Holyfield you care to name. Bowe doesnt have to win a jabbing contest with a guy who cant even throw one properly. You can, "live," with Lewis? LOL. Let me know when Vit beats anyone in Moorers league, he hasnt.

Vit is as mediocre as success gets. Wlad is streets better.

you don't think it is stranger for two brothers to pose naked together erotically?

I mean, to me that is a hell of a lot more strange than Haye or Oscar

I mean, who said it was erotic? Do you find it erotic? Is there something you want to tell us? I don't see any cock or balls or bending over, then again I suppose we all see what we want to see.

The sheer irony of it being that guys in days of yore threw all sorts of fucked-up, half-formed fists and open handed slaps and god-knows-what.

PS did you hear about the Hun in Belfast who fell off his own Bonfire and was serious injured

I'll remember that the next time I strike a child with a haymaker, leaving myself open to a counter he simply isn't capable of taking advantage of.

The opposition, not Klitschko's execution, is why he remains victorious.

So Vitali has studied this technique that has always worked for him, from amateurs to being the best heavyweight in the world (as a kickboxer he fought more traditionally) and meanwhile nobody has been really able to take advantage of this 'weakness'. You suggest that Vitali should renew his technique so that, even though it wouldn't make his results any better, quite the opposite, he would look more like the past champs and this in turn would make him more worthy?

Wlad streets ahead? Their common opponents would probably say otherwise. There comes a point where results start to speak for themselves, surely?

prime-for-prime, yes. Right now? Vitali is pushing 40 and has slid a bit. But on paper, all things being equal, he is by far the better fighter and is by far the harder man. Wlad has better motor skills which are misinterpreted as better boxing skills.

My thoughts on the suckiness of our current heavy division are known, but using a Top 50 list to criticize it seems going a bit far. I really don't feel like doing the research...but I would hazard a guess that a Top 50 list of any division in any point in time in any era is likely to include some really bad fighters.

Our current heavy landscape provides plenty to be underwhelmed about without going to all this trouble.

Yes, but most people don't know that, so it pays handsomely to trot out some misleading lists and stats and then nod sagely as you do so.

Fuck it, a brief examination of Muhammad Ali's resume in his post-Foreman era would throw up some pretty average names like Richard Dunn, Alfredo Evangelista, Jean Pierre Coopman etc.

The point is, if you can find shit on an Ali resume, then you can pretty much find shit anywhere. Its just window-dressing after that. Packaging it neatly with some stats to form the most damning of cases against the division. :wack:

Well...I've seen folks do plenty of hiding behind stats when defending today's heavies...so it's not like it's one way.

Agreed. What I am looking for is the give-and-take. As I said to Ramonza yesterday, its undeniable that Wlad has been in some snoozers, and it is undeniable that he has laid out some guys in pretty emphatic fashion. Both points need to be made rather than one side alone being pushed.

Yes, but any lesser names on Ali's resume are more than balanced out by top fighters.

No fighter fights world beaters any time out, but using that to pretend that all resumes are created equal is misleading and self-serving. Just because Ali had a FEW breather fights in his career doesn't magically make today's fighters better.

No...you are missing the point. I am not complaining about Ali's resume...never would dare to do such a thing.

I am just saying that when you consider how glittering his career was, he still fought some turds.

If there was shit around during the 70's and if there was shit finding its way onto Ali's resume, then it is fair to say there will always be and always has been, shit out there.

And thus it is disingenuous for these people to pull up lists of 50 names etc. If they had done that in the 1970's they would have gotten some shit names too and some of them would have been title contenders too.
