I wont spoil it. I'll give everyone the weekend to see it at least.

I can safely say that it lives up to the wait of expectation. The ending goes the way you'd expect yet NOT the way you'd expect. When you watch it you'll know what I mean. Great ending...albeit shocking. You leave the cinema speechless.

It's actually a good film (as opposed to just a fun film) and somehow they mange to weave a coherent story into all the action which is non-stop. There are some classic moments in the film that'll give you an adrenaline rush. Funny moments. Sad moments.

Thanos is a kick as character. He's not just a good villain...he's a well developed personality and has many redeeming qualities also.

If you haven't watched teh previous MCU films you wont like it, but if you have even you would appreciate it. It's not childish at all. It's very dark and has a surprising amount of depth of character for a superhero film.

And when you see the ending...

"People will barely be able to comprehend it, but they won't be able to deny"

I read Sly’s critique just before watching this so I went in with huge expectations and it was still awesome. Sly’s break down is spot on. This one moves right to the top as the best Marvel film so far. Despite the numerous characters and multiple story arcs it had good balance, story, and pacing. The humor didn’t feel forced like in previous more recent films, even for the Guardians OTG characters. And like Sly said Thanos is a well fleshed out character with depth and emotion. 9/10

Avengers: Infinity War The wait is finally over. After years of building up movie after movie, Marvel Studios has now unleashed the confrontation between Thanos and most of the Marvel cinematic heros (Hawkeye has retired like was mentioned in Age of Ultron & Ant-Man is strangely absent). The film departs significantly from previous Marvel formula as the center character of this story is Thanos, not any of our heros. And unlike previous Marvel films there are actual consequences in this film which probably will turn-off more than one fan. The action is non-stop and spectacular, the humor is well paced mostly from our beloved Guardians of the Galaxy. The brothers Russo did a magnificent job directing this epic film of gargantuan proportions. All that said, this is far from a perfect movie. The ending was a gigantic WTF and left more questions unanswered than we can tolerate (next film in 2 years). I know that Marvel first announced this would be a two part story, but then later announced plans were changed and would be one self-contained film ending the infinity stones story arc. Now it turns out they lied to us. I felt cheated. Still a good, but not great film. 8/10

Funny thing is that a couple of my friends called me today after seeing it and were upset at the ending. I expected an ending of that nature and was prepared for it. I think the next film is next year so only a year to wait (seems like an eternity though ). I agree with all of the decisions made in this film. I’m definitely sad at some of the losses but the decisions added to the tension and the realism.

    SPOILER ALERT!!!

    SPOILER ALERT!!!

Of all the deaths in the film I think only four are permanent as it is obvious that all the characters that just disintegrated at the end will have their fates reversed once Thanos is defeated thanks to Captain Marvel. Same cannot be said about Loki, Heimdall, Gamora and Vision. They are dead. If they are resurrected too in the next Avengers that would diminish everything that happened in this one.

How was the ending a giant WTF and what questions did it leave unanswered?

By the way 8/10? NOW you chose to show critique score restraint?

I admit that I can be excitable at times but I never said Pantera Negra was 10 out of 10 and the best Marvel film to date.

    SPOILER RESPONSE

It ends in a cliffhanger unlike other prior films. All the selective disintegrations was a bit confusing and did Thanos died or not?? My score is based on my level of enjoyment and plot development. It bothered me some apparent plot holes like that a non-all powerful Thanos could KO bad Hulk, but didn't killed mere enhanced human Steve Rogers when he punched him after he was 100X more powerful. Also unless Doctor Strange was lying, he had said earlier that he didn't cared to spare the lives of Tony Stark and the kid as he would choose to protect the Time Stone, but when the moment came, he gave Thanos the stone to save Tony. I know, I know, this will be explained in the next film, but as it stands in this film, it felt like a contradiction. Tony's armor is now insanely Transformers-like powerful. Other thing that bothered me a bit was all the confusing battle with those extremely fast alien beasts. Half of the time you couldn't make much of what was happening, except when it was aerial shots. Also since when Banner & Hulk can talk to each other? why Banner can't just get anxious, angry, whatever and turn into Hulk?? Having Thor getting back an eyeball felt like a cheap cheat (maybe it was in Hemsworth contract?). But don't get me wrong, I liked this film a lot...but I could also see its flaws.

    BREAKING NEWS!

Avengers: Infinity War is closing in to set an all time domestic opening record of approximately $250 million dethroning in the process the current title holder 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' ($248 million). Final actual numbers will be released on Monday afternoon, but even if 'Infinity War' doesn't break 'The Force Awakens' record, it is already the biggest opening ever for any Marvel film. Anyway the record will remain in the house of Mouse as both films belongs to Disney.

    {where the hell was this scene in the film???}

SPOILER ALERT!! (In response to Panchy)

Panchy let me address one of your concerns; the apparent contraction of doctor strange giving up the time stone to save tony stark after previously saying he’d gladly sacrifice both Stark and Parker to protect the stone. It’s EASILY solved by the following:

Strange said that BEFORE he used the time stone to the the one million plus possibly outcomes of the conflict. After he used the stone and saw that there was only one possible outcome in which thanos is stopped he made the decision to spare tony’s Life and give up the stone. Therefore is it apparent that the one successful outcome is dependent on either or both Stark Remaining alive and Thanos initially getting all six stones.

Well I will try to answer most of your questions. SPOILER ALERTS

Why would you think Thanos died? He did what he said he would do after accomplishing his mission, he sat down on a planet to watch a sunrise. Also Thanos IS all powerful and more so than a nonenraged Hulk which is why he was able to beat the Hulk. But beat the Hulk today, lose to the Hulk tomorrow, that’s comic books, nobody wins all the time and rematches often can have different results. Also the Infinity Gauntlet didn’t make Thanos himself anymore powerful or stronger, he just had control of the elements that each stone gave him which is a near limitless power that doesn’t extend within himself. His punch not killing Cap I’ll admit was a bad move. In all honesty I thought Cap was dead from that punch so I’ll give you that one. As for Strange giving up the stone to save Stark. It only appeared that was why he gave it up. If you remember Strange said he saw only one possible win out of several million and apparently that one win required him to give Thanos the stone. As for Tony’s new armor, he said it was nanotechnology and that is pretty much how a comic books fictionalized version of nanotech would work where he can pretty much add to his armor at will. Even with that, Iron Man is still not as powerful as Thor, the Hulk or even Vision.

Yeah the alien creature fight wasn’t so great but I didn’t mind because so many of the other fights were so satisfying that this just felt like a filler battle to me. Banner couldn’t change because the Hulk was being a scared pussy after Thanos kicked his ass and he refused to come out. I think the producers took that route for comedies sake but mostly as a way to level the playing field in a lot of the fights. If you break out the Hulk he dominates all those creatures as well as Thanos’ minions fairly easily. I personally was cool with the eye. I never liked the eye patch or the fact he lost his eye in the first place.

My personal gripes were: not enough Hulk and having Vision being neutered throughout the whole film. One new thing I did like was Scarlet Witch seemed like a real badass in this one whereas before I always found her underwhelming. Overall though I thought it was a great film and will watch it several more times.

Okay I have heard plenty of the same conclusion about Doctor Strange's decision that I'll accept that as THE explanation. As for Hulk/Banner, there wasn't any split personality talk between himself before. Plus from the two prior Avengers films Banner was always angry and just had learned to control his anger and unleash Hulk at will. Banner in this film was mostly a goofy character...just as in Thor Ragnarok. Why is he no loner a non-tortured, anger prompt character? That plus a few FX shots of his face inside the Hulkbuster armor looked amateurishly fake...like something made by youtube fans. Scarlet Witch in the comics became the most powerful being in the universe and went plain psychopath. I hope one day we can see that story in a future movie. Also if you pay close attention, all the original Avengers team members were the survivors, which I found lacking balls from the makers as it would have been more dramatic if Tony, Thor or Steve would have died in this film.

Now you’re just nitpicking. It’s almost like you’re looking for a reason not to like the film.

I have to agree with lb 4 lb in that you’re just nitpicking for the sake of it now.

By the way I think that * SPOILER *....Gamora’s death was pretty huge as was Loki and Heimdall. So no lacking of balls there. My one gripe with the film is that Black Panther was under utilized. He should have been given at least one big moment.

Where I said I didn't? I did like the movie. There was more stuff I enjoyed than not. It was good entertainment worthy of my 8/10 score. Not the best Marvel movie, though, but still very entertaining.

    BOX OFFICE UPDATE

Final numbers are in and is official: Avengers: Infinity War shattered the prior record for biggest opening weekend held by 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens"($248 million). After the dust cleared 'Infinity War' took $258.2 million domestically while worldwide set also a new record with $640.9 million, China not included as it will open there on May 17, which is a cool $98 million more than the prior recorder holder "Fate of the Furious" with $542 million.

Kevin Feige is being showered in champagne right now at Disney.
