Loma has a far better resume. Usyk best wins are british hype jobs Joshua and Bellew and pedestrians cruiserweights like Breidis or Gassiev. Nothing comparable to guys like Russel, Rigondeaux or Walters.

Loma fans will die on a hill for a goddamn Russell win. Relax guys, Gary Russell's career was a sham. They act like Loma beat fuckin Sandy Saddler.

    And LOL @ Walters.

You can laugh all you want at Walters but he's far better than Bellew/Chisora or the cw Usyk beat. Hell, I think he was a significantly better fighter than Joshua too. No one is claiming Lomachenko resume is all this, it's just better than Usyk's though...

Walters is by no means better than Briedis or Gassiev.

He was also a WIDDDDDEEEEE underdog. No one gave Walters a prayer. Loma simply did what he was suppose to do.

walters was viewed as a dangerous fight for loma, especially that early in his career.

I suppose we shouldn’t bother discussing Loma’s future. He’s probably going to die in that war and I’ll never get to tell you told ya so.

In other Inoue news, it was reported his house was broken into sometime while he was at the fight. Stuff was stolen. I’d be shocked if they don’t catch the guys and stuff like this tends to be inside jobs a lot of the time.

    No he wasn't, Doub.

Every single person on the forum, and every single member of the media picked Loma to dominate that fight. I remember.

I cant recall not a one person who predicted a Walters upset.

The only surprise was Walters quitting. The domination was expected.

If Gary Russell is your career defining win, then you are overrated. Period.

Rigo never got anything done at 126, let alone 130, the weight Loma beat him at. That's no great accomplishment.

Usyk has bigger wins than Loma, and Usyk has yet to CHOKE the way Loma did against Fimo. Loma has zero argument over Usyk outside of the Loma myth that still lives on.

The other ongoing debate is Loma vs Crawford. Well gents, that debate is forever over if Crawford beats Spence in October.

Bud's career will have far surpassed Loma's if he gets the Spence win that the majority of fans are expecting him to get.

I promise you, that 20 years from now it'll be a laugh that Loma was ever called better than Crawford. He is NOT. He has a flashier style, but in terms of substance, Bud has more dimensions to his game, and more gears to shift into. Loma isn't much outside of his Plan A, imo.

Many like to call Bud overrated, but no Crawford fan has ever sat up here and compared Bud to Jones, Ali, Floyd, and Whitaker. Loma fans were doing that shit constantly pre-Lopez.

I think he's the single most overrated fighter of this generation.

Once again I don't necessarily disagree with most of it (except Usyk having a better resume but this ship has sailed). Nonetheless, I feel you're a bit too eager to disregard the Rigondeaux win. Sure that it was at 130 take some of it's luster but it's still a win against an undefeated (borderline) all time great. We don't totally disregard Monzon win over Napoles even though he didn't do shit at Mw. We shouldn't do it here either.

Big difference. No one considers Napoles to be Monzon's best win. Rigo is considered Loma's best win.

Monzon's resume is in a different stratosphere compared to Loma's. That comparison shouldn't have been made.

Loma's resume is thin outside of Rigo and GRJ. Thats a fact.

In his defense, his time isn't up.

If he beats Shakur, Haney, or Tank, it helps his legacy a lot. Especially if he beats more than one of those three.

Now, him fighting Tank isn't realistic because Tank's bitchass has never wanted it with Loma. But Shakur and Haney aint scared of Loma.

As it stands RIGHT NOW... Loma's career is overrated. He can change that... but the clock is ticking.

What's really sad is that the division is supposedly "loaded" and all of the top fighters' resumes are lacking in quality opponents.

Yeah, but no one here (AFAIK) is putting Loma on the same level of greatness as Monzon (or others ATG). It seems to me you are arguing about a discussion you had on ESB (or another website).

Not just ESB. The boxing media in general. They compared Loma to guys Leonard, Roy, and Ali.

We know the history of ESB, and we know the underlying truth of WHY they lick Loma's balls.

ONLY one who ever compared Bud to Leonard was Arum - purely to sell a fight.

Ah, ok. I hadn’t noticed that, at least on the Classic forum, which is the one I spend time on.

It's not as pronounced as it used to be.

Circa 2003, going on ESB was like traveling back in time to Nazi Germany.

In fairness Walters and Rigo were both expected to be very stern tests. He basically did a Locche Vs Paul Fuji on both of them....it's rare that fighters of such calibre just totally quit..

No one gave Walters a prayer. He had looked mediocre as fuck since the Donaire fight. He wasn't given any chance.

Was he expected to bail out early?

No, the quit job was the surprise. The general feeling was that Loma would dominate, but Walters would give it his all.

Walters knew quickly that he was in over his head, and wasn't interested in going out on his shield.

    Walters never fought again.

I cant believe anyone thought rigondeaux would be a test. Much older and smaller fighting a guy who's next fight was at 135 while he moved down to bantam

    I can imagine lol

    It's still really bad, though.

If you didn't know better, they'd have you believe the Mount Rushmore of boxing was GGG, Wlad, Vitali and Lomachenko.

I tought Walter had a chance. I was dead wrong, but I still think that if he had more of a warrior mentality, he would have give Loma a good fight

Lol, I distinctly recall you (and me) saying the rigo fight was a gimme for Loma

  30. Azazel

    Azazel "Twinkle Toes" McJack

Yeah, I didn't give Rigondeaux much of a prayer. Smaller and older ain't usually a good winning combination. Nonetheless, the main reason I did so is that I rated Lomachenko really highly (probably overly so in hindsight). So I cannot just discount his win outright.
