It's one of those fights where if Moon can't take the power, he definitely gets annihilated. If he can, his off-beat rhythm and strange sense of spacial awareness would be a nightmare for Inoue. Look at how Inoue holds his chin in the air when he jabs. Donaire split the jab w the left hook and literally broke his face. I imagine Moon (who's ring IQ stays unheralded) would try and do what he did to Konadu and come straight over the top with the overhand right.
All brawlers have the rep of being low IQ. Just like the layman sees a "boxer" type like Khan or Judah, and assumes they're high ring IQ.... when they're not. Moon certainly wasn't low IQ for his style. Like Marciano, there was a method behind his brawling madness. His ring IQ wasn't nearly AS high as Marciano's, but you're right, he wasn't a dope in there.
If anything, I'd say it were higher. I don't for a second think Moon was better than Marciano, but I think he had a bit more wit about him. What makes Marciano a phenom and a better fighter IMO is that he has Moon's level of conditioning while weighing 70lbs more. Not to mention being as strong as an ox, tough as fuck (although I think his chin is overrated a little) and having massive one punch power when he sets his feet. He also has that ultra reliable "way to win".
We're gonna have to disagree on that. I think Rock was a lot smarter and craftier than Moon. Moon was completely clueless against Galaxy. I think part of Rock always finding a way to win is attributable to his ring IQ, on top of the devastating power and endless stamina.
Yeah, I'll have to disagree as well. I don't wanna make this thread about Marciano. That's literally the reason why I left ESB. I think if we're comparing these two fighters from the past, then Inoue is today's version of Arguello. Not half as good, but quite similar IMO.
