Yep. X has that weird obsession with mma. In the early 2000s it was full of bjj nerd that hated boxing. But now the sport is part of the game, and they respect it
Except the dozens of times that MMAists end up having to cross-over to boxing to get proper exposure and cash? MTF
These guys are gas lighting. Trying to make us feel like we're crazy and making up stuff. Do a bit of a social media search and you'll see LOADS of examples of MMA fanboys ripping boxing. Countless examples over years of them saying that MMA was gonna end boxing, boxing is boring, boxers are soft, boxing is dead, blah, blah, blah. It's being wilfully ignorant to pretend that this faction of MMA fans don't exist. The President of the company they worship rips boxing every chance he gets, but none of the fans partake, I guess? Yeaaaaaa ok.
I'll buy/watch almost every big boxing PPV (inc local PPV) but I've only ever bought 5 or so UFC cards and don't often watch them live. I'll go to a couple of local boxing or Muay Thai derbies a year too, but wouldn't attend a local MMA bout outside of a big promotion. I enjoy watching all forms of fighting really even Streetbeef scrubs sloppily slapping each other, but boxing is where I'm most invested, hence buying PPVs, buying this godforsaken website etc.
Do some of these guys exist? Of course they do. Are they the average mma fan? Fuck no. Im pretty confident saying that theres a very strong correlation between being a boxing fan and being a mma fan. Hell, even Dana White speaks badly of how boxing is run, but he's a big fan of the sport per se
Some filmmaker should do a documentary on the peak stretch of Mayweather Jr's career called "From Fishnets to Freckles" where he defeated 6 hall of famers in 8 fights
