Is there any fighter since who'd beat a prime Napoles?

It was a real surprise to me when I started frequenting boxing forums a few years ago that there were real die-hard fans of Chang and that he was rated so highly by some people. I hadn’t seen any of his fights and only knew about him from what I’d read in magazines. That people considered him the best light fly ever was not something I was even aware of.

YouTube has totally transformed my experience of boxing over the last few years. I wish I’d started watching sooner (before having kids) because I reckon I’d have watched 10 times as much as I have now.

 

Yeah, YouTube was a big help to me in terms of easy access to fights and a historical game changer to the reputations of many fighters.

I was lucky in the sense though that my grandad in the nineties was very knowledgeable and had stacks of old magazines and books going back years. And that I ended up at a young age knowing an old collector and amateur historian who showed me loads from his collection of old tapes and pointed me in the right direction on the web to other collectors while I was still young. I can still remember how baffled my mam and dad were that I nagged for second hand VHS tapes from unknown corners of the internet for birthdays and such when my brother was wanting a mobile phone, a PlayStation and Nike Air Max trainers and shite.

I was also lucky that all of my local big towns had brilliant old style markets at the time with stalls selling old tapes and such.

Chang is a great example who came as a pleasant surprise to me as a Westerner, like Jel and X said. And that guys like Kingpetch and Galaxy who had monstrous reps were more excellent than great as the Western media had portrayed for such a long time.
