That's just it. What seems like a black-and-white {} discussion becomes Jim Grayer by the moment.

Vitali didn't struggle with any of their common opponents.......and John Ruiz ostensibly dealt with the Golota power better than Riddick. Hmmmm.

I don't know anybody KNOWLEDGEABLE who had a low opinion of Lewis

Lennox was something of a late bloomer but by the last days of his career he was respected by anybody worth a shit

The people who said stupid, ignorant things about him when he was fighting are still saying them

The last days of his career included a 12 month period after had fought Vitali. By then, it was obvious what way the cookie was crumbling.

    :eek:ld:

Once he annihlated Rahman and got the monkey off his back with the Tyson fight, most reasonable people had come around and given him his due as a terrific fighter

I know you wish to tie this to the Klitschkos and to race and to America and a bunch of other horseshit, but the bottom line is that Lennox was rated high before he officially walked away

Besides, Vitali's strong, gutty showing against him is one fo the reasons he's generally the more respected Klit

Yep,.. all back to mythical 'magic' matchups through the carefully selected and ever so flawed 'A beats B' ilogic.

Meanwhile Illuminati takes a different approach, he uses the word 'better'.:TLC:

Had Taylor fought a prime Hopkins instead of a green Hopkins.

Bad luck my pet ram.

Bowe was a mess by that point, if you're going to be objective about it

Dude...........go onto boxrec, and look at the date of when Lewis lost to Rahman and when Lewis finally retired.

He was still getting laughed at when he did Tyson in 2002. :nono:

    Ah yes.

And he was a mess when he fought Hide.

And he was a mess when he fought Holyfield the 2nd time.

And he was a mess in 1988 when Lewis ran him out of the gym and up the street.

It had to do with......weight. Yes. Making the weight.

    And Hopkins was green.

Seriously though Cdogg,.. this is a mythical 'magical' matchups thread, filled with personal biases, excuses, impossible estimations of physical and mental primes,.. my personal point of view is,... we're all debating nothing,.. and the only reassuring 'hope' is that a pack of posters will descend on one single individual we dont agree with, so as to get some relief.

You think the guy in the ring against Holyfield in 1992 was the same guy that was in there with Hide and Golota?

I mean, do you have retinas?

You are right. The Bowe that destroyed Elijah Tillery was a shadow of the Bowe who "beat" Golota in 1996. And he barely resembled the Bowe ho had KO'd Evander a year earlier.

Look, I amn;t going to fight with you on this...but Andrew Golota being technically and physically light years ahead of Bowe, 1 year after Bowe had stopped Holyfield, had FUCK ALL to do with Bowes imaginary weight-making issues. Fuck Rock Newman, fuck HBO, fuck Ring, fuck Nigel Collins and fuck anyone else who thinks that.

Golota had faster hands and a better jab, period. 1992 Bowe, 1982 Bowe, Bowe and fucking Arrow Bowe....Golota had his number, period.

you mean the people who already knew Lennox was the goods... people like me

rather than the roughly 55% of secondsout.com morons who were picking TYSON KO3 and then later blamed Zoloft?

so you can't see how slow and tired and pathetic he looked in those fights? the Hide fight?

I'm not even defending Bowe, I hated the guy

Golota probably did have his number

what that has to do with Ruiz BARELY beating him a thousand years later after chumps like Grant and old ass Tyson had already turned the trick is beyond me, but that was your big stake here

Bowe would have to be smoking crack to go downhill that fast in such a short period. Dropping weight didn't hurt him half as much as people said it did. In fact he didn't even bother to drop a whole load for the first fight. Then for the 2nd fight they said he dropped too much

Bowe was a slovenly fuck who had about as much dedication to training as Pernell Whitaker had to avoiding cocaine

thats just the way it is... but he's clearly (to anyone with vision) a sharper guy in there with Evander in his biggest win in 1992 than he was when Golota was pounding the hell out of him

Again, back to the point... I believe you were attempting to elevate the current heavyweight division by pinning a medal to John Ruiz's chest for barely beating Golota 100 years later???

No. I was merely diminshing Riddick Bowe.

I don't need to bother of course.....all I need to do is watch some re-runs of Moorer vs Foreman.

Bowe was a guy with all the tools to be a great heavyweight and on one or two nights he was... but the rest of the time, it was a circus

The ability to correctly throw a punch, though not a marker for greatness in itself, would be a fine start.

Unless of course we consider big brother not amateurish, but rather, "awkwardly effective."

Guy can't throw a punch properly. Trauma ward disagrees, but what the fuck do they know.
