Well no, the origin is you saying having undefeated fighters on your resume is meaningful in and of itself. Nothing about perceptions or ratings at the time, but in-ring quality, in line with the topic of the thread.

Then you tried to be slippy & switch it to what gets perceived as 'better' at the time. For one post. Then reverted back to talking about in ring quality. Then flitted between the two angles for a few posts. Everybody else stayed on the original topic. Then you started talking about hindsight & Bert Sugar and whatnot.

You are mixing arguments. Luis Primera precedes what you are talking about and is a different topic. You are wrong about everyone else staying on the original topic which is why Luis Primera got brought up.

If you want to keep it about undefeated fighters, fine. The idea that fighters are better after they've been beaten? Do you want that side? The idea that beating an undefeated guy isn't generally better than beating a guy with 5 losses, do you want that side? The idea that beating an undefeated fighter can mean little or nothing in some specific cases. That's so obvious as to be a non-issue.

Pick one if you want to discuss. You're just not following because you don't know the genesis of Luis Primera.
