To no one's surprise, Disney's The Jungle Book took again the top spot at the box office for the third week in a row. What is amazing is how much it made: $42.4 million which means it has a very small percentage drop from last week ( 31%. The predictons were placing it at $30 million). The fantasy family film has been a critics and crowds pleaser which grossed so far $252 million and worldwide $684.7 million placing it among the All Time highest grossing movies list. Domestically it will have no problem reaching the $300 million mark, the fourth film to reach that number this year. Ironically it will face its biggest competition against another Disney film next weekend as Captain America: Civil War makes its domestic debut. By the way, the Marvel film opened in just 30 foreign markets and grossed a spectacular $200 million in three days.

Dropping 51% from its debut the box office bomb The Huntsman: Winter's War came to virtual tie with a low budget kitten love comedy in the second spot with $9.3 million and some change. The expensive fantasy film has grossed only $33.9 million.

In distant third position the urban feline comedy Keanu debuted with $9.3 million which wasn't exactly what the studio was aiming for ($15-$20 million). Nevertheless the film had a budget of $15 million so if it can finish its run with over $30 million it will not exactly lose money.

That cannot be said about Mother's Day. The holiday themed esemble cast Garry Marshall film bombed miserably with $8.3 million. This will mark the end, hopefully, of those darn holiday themed romantic chick flicks with an ensemble cast formula that started with 'Valentine's Day' and was followed by 'New Year's Eve'. As long as we don't be treated to that proposed dreadful 'Arbor Day' (love found while hugging trees!)...'Mother's Day' ranks among the worst reviewed films of the year with an 8% rotten score at RT.

Barbershop: The Next Cut slides to the fifth spot with $6.1 million for a current total of $44 million.

Zootopia grabbed another $5 million for a nine weeks total of $323.7 million domestically and $931.8 million worldwide. It has a good chance of cracking the $1 billion mark.

Debuting in the 7th spot is the videogame based animated film Ratchet & Clank which went largely ignored with $4.8 million.

Melissa McCarthy's The Boss added $4.2 million to its $56 million domestic gross in the 8th spot.

As predicted, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice fell to the 9th spot with $3.8 million. Domestically it has grossed a current $325 million with a worldwide total of $861 million. The film is now on its final trajectory and will fail to even crack the $900 million mark.

Anyone wants to be that 'The Jungle Book' will end up grossing more than 'Batman v Superman' something than no one could have predicted six months ago? :Bad:
