Why can't the IBF strip him? Like, whats Opetaia's case here? Surely he must've known that signing with a fighting organisation which refuses to acknowledge the IBF would lead to him being stripped.
It's a restraint of trade issue, particularly as the IBF initially agreed and took the sanctioning fees before becoming butthurt about how the IBF belt was "positioned", then completely reversing their position. Opetaias team believe it's a punitive measure based on his signing and one designed to also discourage others joining the Zuffa promotion, hence becomes a restraint of trade issue.. And it is when all is said and done....that's exactly what they are doing imo.
