Jeff Mayweather says Forums Are Rough

I haven't posted here for a few months simply because I got tired of the bullshit not only from Cupey but the folks he decided should be the mouthpieces for the site. Here's some truth serum about why the forum is in the shitter.

At one time this was a very good forum with excellent posters around. Cupey had a two excellent people behind him.

Jake - Best writer and had ALL the contacts
Joe Rein - Editor, grounding presence

And what happened? He ran both of those guys off with his continued poor decisions and ego. Now fast forward a few years and Joe has been long gone (and not available to edit and rewrite articles) and Jake isn't around to pinch hit and write good articles AND took his contacts with him.

So, to fill this void what does Cupey do? Props up Hegman who couldn't write the phone book if it was sitting right infront of his face and Sly (who I like as a poster but as a voice on the radio show not so much).

Hell, while I'm thinking about it which version of the radio show was better...the first with the two Canucks or the second version? The answer is simple...the FIRST version.

The bottom line is, poor decisons by Cupey coupled with his ego has greatly assisted in the decline of this forum. There will always be village idiots posting which is easily overcome by having the right team in place to effectively moderate (and I thought Payton did a good job and Cupey ran him off as well).

Finally, with Cupey saying he might close the forum down essentially means that he's run out of people to help and he doesn't want to do the shit himself. The TRUTH of the matter is, he'll never shut the site down because that means he no longer gets press credentials to fights and is left to pay like everyone else.

This was a good site until ego and poor decision making from the top down ruined it.

THAT'S what this is all about when you cut through the bullshit.

Another idea that I keep pitching (I believe it was phonetap's originally) is to upload some of the original video content to youtube with a fightbeat.com ad stuck to the beginning and end.

First of all, for those who want to know the truth I will go outright and say it.

Joe Rein left because of a dispute regarding editing. It had to do with an article he edited for Reed which Reed wasn't too happy about. I decided to side with Reed and Joe wasn't happy about it. He also asked me to eliminate a lot of posters on this site, and I was very lenient on who should be removed and who shouldn't. Joe also wanted every piece of news and article to be edited before it went up. I wasn't in agreement so it was time to part ways. However, Joe is and always will be and the very heart of FightBeat.com and we still speak quite often. However, he has moved on with any kind of writing and is enjoying his life. Joe is always welcome here and I consider him a friend. I believe he feels the same way about me because we constantly communicate.

So much for your theory Musze.

Jake left because of communication issues. He felt I wasn't communicating and managing properly so he didn't want to be a part of it anymore. I don't blame him. I agree 100% with Jake that I was quite irresponsible when it came to dealing with people. Sometimes we learn the hard way. I'm happy Jake has found someplace he is happy and wish him and his family all the best.

As far as Jake and contacts, you are dead wrong. I have a huge amount of contacts and can interview just about anybody I want. I was a PR person and had access to private cell phone numbers of fighters, managers, and promoters. The problem is that I also run the site so it's very hard to write, video edit, audio edit, photo edit, publish articles, news, and maintain the site. It's fucking assholes like you that don't appreciate a damn thing but simply sit on your rocking chair while I do all of the work. SO FUCK YOU.

The sale of fightbeat was and is simply because I need a team of people to help manage. So after I have a meeting with one more person who has a proposition for me regarding the site I will make a decision. But so far I've done a hell of a lot for one person and I'm proud of what has been built. The forums need work, but they are what they are. I just want to bring attention to the fact that the wrong attitude around here is scaring away members.

Where are the people that spent thousands of dollars for camera equipment, website upgrades, servers, etc. Where are the people that stayed up to 6am to get photos articles and video up. Very few have done what I have done to bring you Fightbeat and never charge a dollar for anything. But whatever, haters will always hate.
