Of course it is, and if it wasn't for Frank Warren you would be able to actually look back on the posts where I was saying this very thing. Pavlik was a hypejob man, people were just looking for someone to beat Calzaghe
I always knew the Pavlik was a one-dimensional fighter and that Hopkins would win easily...perhaps every single round. Taylor must've been really shit to lose to this guy....Jermaine Taylor certainly had me fooled. Taylor-Hopkins-Pavlik is the perfect styles makes fights triangle.
You wotldnt call Greb dominant? You wouldnt call Monzon dominant? Hagler? All three beat better opposition. In the case of the first two, MILES better competition.
Nunn is incredibly overrated around here. He has one exceptional win and loads of 'potential', yet now he on a level with Hagler? MTF ::
agREED. Nunn is way overrated by some around here...most often by revisionists hoping to push an agenda.
Nunn is under-appreciated. Now I'm not saying that he's on Hagler level in terms of career/achievements/greatness. Not at all and no where near. What I am saying though is that if they fought, prime for prime, I'm giving Nunn at least a 50-50 chance of winning.
Mugabi's status is more mythical to be honest...and of course tha agenda there is to make Hagler look better. Nunn is rated quite honestly
Greb beat Tunney and for that I give him MAJOR props. No doubt. Monzon was dominant and so was Hagler. Never said otherwise. Hopkins was dominant too...longer reign, proved how formidable a middleweight he really was by having success at Lightheavyweight. YES...the 175lbs part is relevant too...it proves how good he must have been at 160lbs. It proves that his 20 defenses wasn't a fluke based on just mediocre competition.
Mugabi's status is mythical, all right... because most of the guys around here think of him the way YOU do, and have absolutey no clue about him or his career or the guys he fought before Hagler
This is bullshit. I don't see anyone trying to put Mugabi on the level of Hagler and Monzon. Mugabi is rated right where he belongs by those who actually know something about his career...a tough fighter with a big punch who was never quite the same after the Hagler fight.
I'm very surprised that you posting something completely false in the attempt to make boxing history fall in line with your agendas.
Guys sinc ethe 80s that would have beaten Mugabi at Middleweight: Jones, Hopkins, Nunn, Toney, benn, Eubank, Collins, Barkley, Graham, jackson, Trinidad...... That's my point.
That's your opinion on those fights. I could see Mugabi beating any of these fighters except for Jones, Hopkins and Toney. He could lose to some of them as well, but he would be competitive with all of them. But then...that's based on actually following Mugabi's career and seeing most of his relevant fights.
