Damn Mitchell, that was good... :bears:

    Anyway, to this fight.

I'd favour Jermain very strongly to beat Lacy, on the grounds that Lacy is completely and utterly done. Calzaghe completely ruined him, and his performances since have been appalling.

Jermain, on the other hand, lost decisively to Pavlik the first time around but put in a much better, smarter stint the second time at the higher weight. Other than the first Pavlik loss, there is no real reason to suspect that he has dropped markedly from the pretty high (and underrated) level he was operating previously :dunno:

I actually think the move to 168 might revitalise JT's career a good deal. The division is pretty interesting again right now, with Andrade, Bute, Mundine, Froch, Miranda and Kessler all in the mix, but with the one undisputably elite fighter, Calzaghe, missing and presumed gone, the division is wide open for someone to step up to the mark and take over the reigns.

I still personally think that Kessler is the class act of that little bunch, but I can't see any real reason why Taylor can't get himself right in the mix. Of those I listed, I'd only really pick Kessler to beat him with any confidence, and he still be a pretty live dog in that one.

Anyway, Taylor should beat Lacy by a wide and handsome decision.

    MTF

I think Taylor wins comprehensively....he's too technically sound....he'll box Lacy's ears off.....i think it will be a systematic beat down, ending in a late stoppage. Lacy doesn't carry the same confidence, nor does he command the same respect from his opponents as he once did.......i can't see Lacy winning this one....not even coming close

Yep, precisely,.. he's an elite fighter,.. he owns Hopkins arse,.. .. and he looked better than he has for a while in the Pavlik rematch, which was close,..very close, and considering Pavlik had the psychological advantage of knocking him out in the first fight, and people were pleading with him not to fight Pavlik again so soon.. a rubber match he'll win, in my opinion,..there is no bitch in Jermaine, he's coming back to his best, and he needed these losses...

Why did Carlos Hernandez fight ever when he was never at the world class---for the money.

Taylor is not particularly technically sound at all. He is jittery, unpredictable, inconsistent, throws odd, arcing punches, doesn't have much depth to his style, or adabtability.

However, despite that, he is simply a much better fighter than Lacy. Quicker, sharper, more talented, more experienced, and probably more confident at this point too.

I say Taylor wins a fairly 1 sided decision.

Thing is, JT seems to have problems with guys who back him up. And I expect Lacy will do just that.

And what's to stop him? Lacy has a good chin, and he's aggressive if nothing else. He will lay some leather on Taylor. Remember Taylor vs. Ouma? Taylor's jab could work during Lacy's down-time, while he's losing rounds, but it's possible he could catch Taylor with something when he's not posing and catching jabs on his forehead.

To Make a FIGHT Out of this, it's IMPERATIVE That Lacy Comes Out VERY Aggressive...From the Opening Bell...

REED has a Feeling that Lacy's Self-Confidence is SHOT, so he'll Need Some IMMEDIATE, Early Rounds Reinforcement, if he Plans on BEATING Taylor...

Cause If Lacy Allows Taylor to Get ANY Sort of Rhythm, it's Gonna B a MUCH Harder Fight for him...

But REED'll Give Lacy the 'Ol Puncher's Chance THROUGHOUT & Even Expects Lacy to LURE Taylor into Some Furious Exchanges...Like REED Said Yesterday, he's Expecting a Saad Muhammad-Marvin Johnson Type of Battle...

    agREED brother REED.
his confidence has suffered and as a come forward aggresive puncher.. confidence is key..

I think JT is just too good for him and coming forward will only get him stretched

when's the last time JT stretched a junior middle-weight, or a middle-weight let alone a super middle-weight? no way he'll knock out Lacy unless Lacy is absolutely balls to the walls determined to KO Taylor and as a result makes himself ultra vulnerable. Even then, Taylor isn't the type of fighter to trade. He's not a Corrales looking to bail himself out.

I won't be surprised at all if Lacy wins. Lacy just needs to not load up so much so he can be busier and not be such a sitting duck for his opponents.

It's because it wasn't true. You just accused me of hyping someone.:lol:

Anyway, I think the pre shoulder injury Left hook would have beaten Jermain. I never thought much of Jermain although I always rooted for him. I think it is amazing that some silly hick from Arkansas could get so far. Now, I just can't see the post-Calzaghe Lacy winning. I like both of these guys though and I hope it is a good fight.

Its an interesting fight at this point in time... frankly a lot more interesting than it would have been years ago.

As I have said before I was wrong... Lacy was basically destroyed by Calzighe. Thats all she wrote for left hook. He was exposed and trashed.

My thinking is that Jermaine could come from the other direction. I mean he needs to get that he is what Lacy wants to be... A guy with a strong punch. Jermaine should be knocking people out.

Winning this fight is only possible if Jermaine is victorious with that strategy. He needs to knock lacy out. Lacy cannot win this fight, even if he beats Jermaine so what? It does nothing for him. And he won't so it is a moot point.

in conclusion Left Hook's die is cast, Jermaine's has some potential. This fight will tell us who will follow their destiny.

Dan Rafael is reporting this could end up at the arena on Vanderbilt University.

I think it'd be kinda nice to see this fight end up on a campuas arena, very few are used outside of the Thomas & Mack.

Taylor has looked better in losing efforts recently than Lacy has winning.

Jermain should win this one with ease.
