Mate, if I type Esquire they will think I am from the magazine and start asking me about when Kim is coming to town.
Thank you for your enquiry – it’s been received by research viewing services. We’ll respond within five working days. If your enquiry is complex we may take longer, but will keep you informed.
I'm glad that if we ever run afoul of the law in the United Kingdom of Britannia we have Feebs and Irish to help protect our fifth amendment rights.
Let's see what happens. They say 5 days response. I might have to contact Steve Bunce.......my guess is he's got one of the biggest collections in the World right now.
Honestly, he's probably seen more and collected more fights than the top 20 posters here put together, easily. He get's paid to watch fights and chat shit about them. I am sure he could put me in the right direction but I will give the BFI their 5 days first.
I like Bunce. He's entertaining but a lot of the time you think "are you just a boxing historian or....do you actually know about boxing?"
Bunce used to take part in the old AOL Boxing prediction league waaaaaay back in the day, he was bottom half of the table stuff.
I used to like him, then I found out what he was really about and hated him, now I just accept that as a journalist he's got no real options but to play along. He says that he was barred from covering Mickey Duff fights in the 1980's because he said something Duff took offence to, and that the lost work cost him a downpayment on a flat in London that today would be worth a fortune. So I understand why he shills it up big time.
Oh, and what is the shape of the hole the biro is going through? Fucking circular? Don't mess with me boy you ain't got da minralz
Dear ****** ******* Thank you for your enquiry. The 'Explore Film & TV' part of the website you have quoted from is intended to information on films and TV programmes generally and is not a catalogue of titles actually held by the BFI. Details of materials, if any, held in the BFI's collections are however available online, at: Collections Search | BFI | British Film Institute A VHS reference copy of INTERNATIONAL BOXING featuring the John Conteh v Joe Cokes match is held in the BFI National Archive and may be viewed on our premises (only) for research and study purposes - as detailed at Research viewing services The BFI holds no rights in this material and does not have the resources to be able to offer a bespoke copying service - so cannot provide personal and/or research copies of titles held in the collection. As this was an ITV Sport programme, and presumably owned by them, I would suggest the best route to enquire about the possibility of obtaining a copy might be to get in touch with their archive (ITV Sport Archive - Home). yours sincerely Kathleen Dickson Kathleen Dickson Access Officer (Viewings) BFI National Archive
Which basically means that like women buying a pair of shoes will now invariably buy the first pair we looked at. We go back to ITV and chase their asses down. Either that, Reed and Joe Cokes splash out on a trip to London England to watch a fight in a room together. The Worlds most expensive PPV.
Maybe when Bunce is talking about fighters and matchups deemed to be relevant to the British boxing scene he tows the line, after all these people are idiots that are also funding the industry. But when he’s just shooting the shit I find him a pretty cool, straight shooting, knowledgeable guy. When him and whatever UK journeymen he’s got with him are chatting in between undercard fights is the closest thing to real boxing discussion I’ve ever seen on TV.
