You're exactly right about Hominick. He could have finished that fight in the 3rd but he didn't push it. And I'm not sure why he thought he would get the decision.

He's relatively young but he might want to hang it up. His face can't take the pounding. He looked terrible after the Aldo fight and again tonight.

And how about Matt Brown. Wonderboy landed some shots and Brown was dead tired. But Brown gutted it out and really sliced up Thompson's face on the ground.

I'm glad to see someone else appreciated Jones display of skill. I'm like everyone else. I was hoping for a highlight finish, but you have to be a little in awe of Jones ability to absolutely discourage top guys like this. Rashad is a great fighter and he looked ordinary. He looked as unable to pull the trigger as Rampage Jackson.

Something tells me we will never see Overeem fight in the United States again.

yeah but rashad is not exactly a hard guy to doscourage. Even against Forrest he was doing fuck all for almost 3 round before exploding with gnp and stopping Forrest.

Well, sure Jones would get beaten by the 260 lbs juiced-up version of Overeem.

But if Overeem was clean, Jones destroys him.

Loved Matt Brown's heart. You cant ask for more.

Yeah of course everyone wants a KO finish, but i wont complain about the level of skill i just saw. I was impressed. The elbows were terrific. Jones should have done more of them because there were plenty of openings for it.

So if he was not doing well and then exploded, wouldn't be the exact opposite of being "discouraged"?

He was probably losing to Liddell as well before knocking him out. But he wasn't discouraged, nor did he look like a guy trying to survive, against either of them. But he did against Jones.

Hell, I'm not going to try to bolster Rashad Evans status. The dude's record speaks for itself. He's a top guy and he looked ordinary.

Jones makes everyone look that way.

Well, Overeem USED to be at 205 and likely clean.

Did your Mom USED to have balls?

If so, I get the analogy.

Either way, Jones is the more skilled fighter and far better P4P.

Exactly, don't forget about his fight with Shogun. I don't think you can name another fighter ever that manhandled Shogun like that. I was practically in shock during that fight.

Those hail mary rights were practically non-existent in the 4th and 5th rounds. And if he did throw anything, it was from so far away it meant shit. He was too afraid of the elbows. He just wanted to survive tonight. He has never fought that way.

Not sure why we are even talking about Jones the 205 champion fighting Overeem a HW contender who just lost a UFC title shot due to PED's. Really a very mythical matchup to say the least.

Could be. I agree with you about Overeem-Jones.. Who cares?

Why is everyone in such a rush to see Jones move up to HW? Let him dominate 205 for a few years.

It's getting pretty tiresome that after every UFC event, we have to come in here and argue with a bunch of trolls who hate everything about the UFC. Instead of talking about the fight. It has drove some of the few MMA fans we had right off of here. I am honestly just tempted to give up on this forum altogether and just discuss MMA somewhere else.

Agreed, I'm begining to think SD should be banned. One comment in a while is funny, doing it after every event is tiresome, especially since his ''discussion'' drags on for pages

I cant ban him. He is an admin. And he wont voluntarily stop trolling here. That is why i am thinking about not posting in this MMA section anymore. We will see.

I'm not sold he'd be a great HW either.

I think he could be. His reach is amazing even for a HW. And I guess he walks around close to 230 so the idea of of bulking up to 245-250 isn't absurd.

But how does he respond when he's not throwing guys around in the clinch?

Personally I'm in no hurry to see a young fighter move up like that. Let him reign at 205 even if the challenges are limited.

And he didn't even actually see the fight.

I honestly don't understand why he can't let it go. He isn't going to single-handedly bring down MMA by trolling on a lightly used forum.
