There would not be any boxing between Joe Frazier and Anthony Joshua.

The relationship in that ring would be that of cow and butcher.

But that s pretty much all you can expect from AJ when he fights top level guys (im being generous to pulev)

In essence it was as follows: he took 3 rounds for Pulev to make a mistake, capitalized, then failed to finish the job even though Pulev tried to let him.

He then took 6 more rounds of pecking until Pulev eventually stumbled onto one.

It was largely 2 short periods of above-average decency which encapsulated a box-by-numbers fest.

The issue here is that we're not prepared to accept that AJ is just average, we are still judging him by the hype standards of yesteryear.

Here's the thing: he did a lesser job on an older fighter than old man Wlad did.

If AJ was really this ATG that we were told he was, that should have been 3, 4 rounds, max.

It wasn't bad per se but when you apply the overall criteria it fell short.

AJ has settled on being cautious back-footer now that Ruiz has taken his aura.

He's just rubbish. Yes he's better than 90-odd% of current HWs but that's not saying anything of note, really. He'd be destroyed by the best current HW and any elite level HW in history. He's unbelievably basic.

2 Fights Removed from the KO Loss to Ruiz, It was Definitely a BETTER Performance Than Being Given Credit For Around Here, But Consider the Sources...

Feebles has Literally NEVER Typed a Single Positive Word About Anthony Joshua, EVER, and the Irish Incel Is Clearly INCAPABLE of Discussing Joshua w/Out Mentioning Wlad in the Same Sentence:duck:...

B+ From Joshua by Any OBJECTIVE Measure Though...

    This.

By Tyson/Lewis/Bowe/Holy standards, AJ is a joke.

But for today, yaayyyyy! He's spectacular!

    I'm so impressed....

i watched some of the fight, which is rare these days when it comes to heavyweights. i thought the joyce dubois fight was better than this horse shit. good KO but you had to sit through several rounds of pulevs feeble and dirty tactics

I'm no AJ fan. I think he's one of the most overrated hypejobs in boxing history. I make no bones about that. But I'm capable of giving credit where it is due and have in the past. I thought his display against Povetkin was a fine win, arguably his best. I give him credit for toughing it out against old man Wlad, when he looked like folding.

His display tonight was utterly 'meh', against an old man who was unable to even throw punches at him. He threw a lovely counter right to hurt Pulev in the third, and his finish was tidy, but the rest of the fight was dreadful and AJ looked like an absolute novice at times.

No way would that performance merit at B+ IMO.

Against a backdrop of being constantly told how fantastic he is. It's always been like this with him, even in his ammy days. He was the poster boy for Team GB boxing prior to London 2012 yet he lost two of the fights he had in his gold medal run: one was a close but clear loss in the final but the other was a disgraceful robbery against a Cuban who completely outboxed him. Yet on and on it went, the narrative that this was some ridiculous talent destined to rule the world. And Mister REED wonders why I'm not a fan...:Jest:

If Lennox Lewis was still around, this guy wouldn't even be on a fucking chip wrapper.

That's an accurate description of him, agREED. He's a 'fairly good fighter'. That he currently holds three of the four world title belts is some reflection of the state of play in that division right now.

who is the last quality heavyweight champion joshua would have a good shot at beating?

giving him a B+ grade against that (limited) level of opponent tells me youre either grading on a massive curve or just dont think much of joshuas ability

Anthony Joshua was EMBARRASSINGLY KO'ed By a Fat Tub of Goo, 2 Fights Ago...Literally Bounced Off the Canvas Like a Spalding Basketball, In His American Debut...

As a Stand Alone Performance, No, Tonight Wasn't B+ Material...But in Proper CONTEXT, REED Definitely Rated it Accordingly...

Though On His Backfoot Predominantly, Joshua Moved LESS Than he Did in Ruiz 2...Jab Looked Pretty Good, Hurt Pulev Numerous Times w/CLEAN Shots, Put His Punches Together Well AFTER Hurting Pulev, Bounced HIM Off the Canvas and Finished Him...

2 Fights After Getting His Shit Pushed In By a Morbidly Obese Cholo...

But Hey, @ Least You Owned Up to Being a HATER...

I don't 'hate' Joshua. I don't know the bloke. I do hate the hype around him, mind.

The 'highlights' reel for tonight looks good. A sweet punch in the third, two kd's, a nice uppercut later on and a nice right hand to end matters. But what they don't show was AJ blowing out of his hole in the 4th. Or his being tagged by (ineffectual) rights in the fifth and sixth, thrown by an old, ineffectual fighter. Or his string of clinches/headlock - sloppy uppercut combos. I thought his jab was decent, but not more than that.

Highlights are exactly that. Highlights. Twenty seconds of good stuff in near half an hour of predictable, sloppy, ineffective rubbish. And I'm not going to give him extra credit just because all of that came after he got brayed by a fat cunt a couple of fights ago. Frankly, I saw nothing from AJ tonight which was any different to the fighter I saw before he got brayed.

Lewis looked awful in some of his fights before delivering the big kabosh. But at the end of the day, we almost only rebember the highlights

He beat old man Wlad in a really entertaining fight. Not really sure who else he might have beaten.

I honestly don't think he's have beaten Frank fucking Bruno, never mind the elite of the 1989s - 90s

Joshua Put MORE Hands on Pulev in the 3rd Round Alone Than DuBois-Joyce Did in 10, COLLECTIVELY...Ditto for the 9th Round...

    Dubois-Joyce was BETTER Than Joshua-Pulev???...

Right, but we don't rate those performances at as B+ overall. We remember, and credit, the quality of the finish (like 'big kabosh' btw) but also talk about the crap which proceeded it.

I think a B+ is a good evaluation of the fight. Was pretty much in control all the time, while he looked a bit sloopy, robotic and fatigued at times (no surprise,.its aj after all). And he was spectacular in the 3rd and 9th

I'm going to respectful disagree with anyone who has that as a B+ performance and simply move on. All subjective and not how I evaluated it, but there we go.
