I like Pavlik and even though I think he won't ever fully get his career back on track again, fighting Ward is a terrible idea to get back into the win column. It might be a decent payday but, Pavlik's stock goes down again if he takes this fight.

Pavlik looked awfull vs Rosinsky, like nowhere near he used to be. Terrible matchup, TopRank ( or whoever is his Pavlik promoter right now ) is cashing out on him. Sad because he could have been involved in good fights with guy at the same point in their career ( Bute for example ), where a win would have been possible and would help him in bringing him back to the top.

 

Prime Pavlik I agree, not the journeyman he has become since his losing bouts with alcohol.

Obviously Pavlik sees something he thinks he can exploit. Bjt to me, Pavlik has trouble when he gets smothered - he has trouble shortening his punches when he needs to. Don't see how he doesn't get beat up in the trenches, all grappled up, held and hit. He better be ready for a rough and dirty fight. Pavlik's best chance is if Ward mistakenly tries to fight him on the outside. Even then it's slim.

 

Yeah, he can exploit HBO for a big payday.

This fight, whether it's off or not, was not a bad idea for Pavlik. He was expected to lose making it a chance to redeem himself with very little downside, since the chances he'd be knocked out are remote. It's a shame if it's now off.
