Kessler had an operation done on his hand immediately after the Calzaghe fight, and hasn´t put gloves on in three months. Who knows how bad his hand is/was and when he´ll return, but he´ll probably test the waters against a lesser opponent.
Edison should not want Taylor anymore, not after he nearly knocked out Miranda's big scary white daddy-long legs:: , and pushed him all the way to a very, very, very close verdict in the rematch. Jermaine said after Pavlik wiped his arse with the Colombian scrub, that he expected Miranda to submit a NEW video humbly apologising for the DARING manner inwhich he spoke of him. Jermaine only improves now from here on out, I give him a good chance against Kessler if he fights to the best of his abilities, a good chance against anyone infact, Calzaghe, Pavlik again, Dawson, I think he beats Arabham, and shot Roy, and he shuts out his original son, Bernard Hopkins.
All I know is that Kessler needs to get his ass back in the ring. I mean he can't ride that I gave Joe Calzaghe a tough fight forever. Now he might not have to fight Miranda but he needs to fight a name fighter and stop feeling sorry for himself. It aint like he ko'd or anything so he can't use that as an excuse. Just pull yourself up by the boot straps and go get ur juice back! I'll Holla 5000
To be honest what a better way to gain some juice back then to take a fight against the allegedly hard nose big mouth Miranda. I mean JT could have taken the easy way out and not rematched Pavlik but he did. So why should the "heir apparent" be given a pass. I'll Holla 5000

dsimon writes: True true. I guess we should be happy for the integrity of the sport that a guy like Kessler does not fly through hoops just because HBO calls.
dsimon writes: I don't know if its just my imagination but Kessler looked to me like he was psychologically very compromised in that fight. He looked like he could not do anything he intended, sort of confused and flabbergasted. It would not suprise me if Joe did more of a number on him than might be obvious. Sometimes the worse beatings are not physical.
Good point In light of this thread, I re-watched the Calzaghe-Kessler fight this evening (along with the legendary 'When We Were Kings'- I'll make a boxing fan out of the missus yet...), and Kessler seemed especially down-heartened afterwards. At the time I put it down to respect and disappointment, but in hindsight it may be a little more. :dunno: For all of that, talk of Miranda and Taylor challenging for the ascendancy at 168 is very premature. Miranda has not beaten anyone worth a light at 168 yet, whilst Taylor has never even so much a FOUGHT there. And as for Jeff Lacy...::
If Miranda's management say it, it must be true, he's not known for selling wolf tickets or calling out the division's top fighters on every two bit website. Anyhow, I thought he wanted Abraham again last week, and Jean Paschal the week before (until he no longer looked impressive - yeah, I'm sure that was it). I'm taking a guess what he really wants is a high profile fight which will pay well :dunno:
dsimon writes: :bears: One things for sure Carlos.... whether Joe likes it or not, he aint gonna be throwing no 4000 punches a round and he is going to have to fight in a phone booth for some of the rounds. :: Me? I don't think Joe is going to like that too much. ::
dsimon writes: Well you know.... If one were to look back carefully in boxing inevitably they would find that there were a lot of guys like Kessler through the ages. Guys who were solid well schooled fighters. When they met adversity some overcame and some did not. Kessler knows that whether he overcomes or not he has a nice looking Blonde Scandinavian wife and (one or two?) lovely daughter(s).... so its all good for him, he has made some cash. BUt if he wants to move on he just has to get past the Calzighe fight. I wouldn't hold it against him if he doesn't. But he may well just want a few cash out fights.
I like Kessler, and I think he'd beat the fuck outta Miranda but now you have to wonder if the Calz loss took some of his confidence. He seemed pretty down after the fight.
Yeah, because some asshole PR man working for a bonafide helicopter (without a pilot) said so? Give me a break. You can't duck an opponent whom you might very well kill in center ring.
Well lets see what happens. I'm not a fan of Miranda, but he's willing to fight anyone. I'm not saying Mikkel's ducking him until we hear Kessler's side of it, but its a fight that should happen. And if it does, I'm definitely picking Kessler to kick Miranda's ass.
Miranda has fought a grand total of THREE live bodies in his career. Good fighters, no doubt. In between that, he has ran his mouth and named every fighter from Ivan Calderon to Wlad Klitschko. BIG FUCKING DEAL. He has someone talented writing his stuff. Thats it. Three decent opponents. The rest, trash.
All agREED... That's why I said I'd be surprised if this story has much credibility. I can't see a single good reason why Mikkel wouldn't box Edison's head off for as many rounds as this fight would last. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see this fight happen late this year, I just think Mikkel might need to knock over a tomato can to prepare first. Joe pretty much took him apart in rounds 7-11 of their fight, and confidence could well still be an issue...
IMO Kessler is ducking no body at that weight Joe was streets ahead of them all and Kessler took him the distance. Kessler will dominate the SM.
The only thing Kessler will duck is the windmill right hand of Miranda, then send the latter to the canvas with his own right hand
All I know is that Kessler needs to get back in the ring. He's had ample time to recover from his defeat. He needs to step up and take on a name fighter whether its Miranda or not. However if HBO was offering to air the fight he should jump on that immediatley. If I were him I would be calling out everybody and their mother so that I could redeem myself. And no I don't think that Joe took a lot out of him. It wasn't as if it was a war like chico/castillo, the marquez fight last week pavlik/taylor or even joe/lacy. If kessler's confidence is that shot he wasn't as good as many proclaimed him to be. The way u judge a champion is not how they do when they r winning but how they come back from adversity. Moral of the story he needs to get his ass back in the ring! I'll Holla 5000
