Lets face it, Campillo and Cloud are kind of bummish by now tho. They have Gate-Keeper qualities aboot them.

 fucking hilarious upset in Newcastle tonight.

Some hometown hero called Travis Dickinson had his people bring in a Moroccan roadsweeper via Spain..........and he got the shit kicked out of him in less than a round.

The opponent was obviously shit but I like Joshua's jab; fast, thudding and precise. Nice how he mixes it up with the short left hook in there too. Johnson will be a big step up next time out though, will be interesting to see if he can stop him.

In All of his big fights thus far, against Vitali, Fury, Chisora etc, he has come in specifically to spoil and to act the mug. Vitali was close to stopping as Johnson was totally spent by the end of the 12th.

I will put money on one of two things, possibly both as the fight goes on..............Johnson to take some early fire and Seldon it, or Johnson to Purritty Joshua.

I don't think Vitali was close to stopping Johnson. I'd actually say Chisora came closest. Worth remembering though that Vitali fought an unbeaten, motivated Johnson who was fighting for the world title where as the aforementioned Brits fought a guy who'd lost wide a few times and his status as a tough, awkward spoiler had been solidified. I don't really think Johnson will do anything at all against Joshua, Joshua seems pretty composed and controlled in there so I can't see him making the same mistake a young Wlad did, who liked to go balls to the wall when coming up. The interesting thing to me will be to see how hard Joshua REALLY hits, and if he can still look good against a guy whose sole ambition these days is to make fighters look bad.

Its a clever piece of matchmaking, straight out of the Amir Khan vs Chris Algieri or Richard Williams vs Shannon Taylor class of matchmaking.

Is Joshua as good as Wilder already? I think he might be.

It's excellent matchmaking, if I was the guys matchmaker it'd be a fight I'd make. Bit harsh to compare it to Khan-Algieri as Khan is an established regular on the world stage, Joshua is still an 11-fight novice and whilst it's not a fight I can see him losing it is a significant step up from his previous opponents.

There were a couple of half-decent ex-noughties contenders in there like Skelton, but yeah, it's still a significant improvement. Let's be honest though, it's not so much about the opponent at this stage, it's whether Joshua is showing signs of development, and if you compare his recent performances to his debut he's already way ahead of where I thought he'd be.

Gavern made Joshua look like shit at the weekend but Joshua still came through it.

Joshua hasn't got one punch KO power like Wilder, that's for sure, but Joshua seems much more fluid than Wilder.
