Garcia often does that, it's just the way he throws. He's done it since too, he looks down or away with his eyes closed, it doesn't mean he hasn't spotted the opening and timed it exactly as intended.

The shot he KO'd Lightning Rod with was pretty much identical. There was nothing desperate or lucky about that shot he hit Khan with.

Also, he didn't plan on losing 2.5 rounds I would imagine, it just happened, it is a fight afterall. He planned on KOing Khan with a counter left hook, and that's exactly what he did, pretty early in the fight.

If you rewatch the third round of that fight there is a clear and noticeable momentum shift in Garcia's favour. Even the fucking useless, biased SKY cunts noticed it. Khan started the round effectively again, throwing showy flurries but then Garcia starts to stand his ground more. He repeatedly looks to land overhand left and right hands when Khan is flurrying. He misses loads but gets closer and closer having slowed Khan down with some good bodyshots. Then, near the end of the round, he finally connects. He'd been trying to throw that punch (or one like it) for nearly two minutes of the round.

    Here's the Thing, Mr. Feebles....

Khan Lost the Fight Because of his PUNCH RESISTANCE, or LACK Thereof...But Up Until that Point, he CLEARLY Looked to Be a Different CLASS of Fighter than Garcia, Did he Not???...Yet Fightbeaters are Reluctant to just ADMIT It...

By Round 3, it was OBVIOUS Garcia's ONLY Chance of Winning was Gonna Be by KO...As Illustrated in his Bout w/Mattttthhhhyyyyssse, Garcia HAS Skill...Nonetheless, Khan was CLEARLY the More Skilled & Talented Fighter of the 2, but Again, Khan's Naysayers Will NEVER Soooo Much as Acknowledge that FACT...Which Points to the Clear ANTI-Khan Sentiments @ Fightbeat...REED Isn't Even a FAN of Khan, Nor Does REED Give him Much Credence in a Top 15-20 Sense, Lb for Lb...But Having Said That, Dude is A LOT Better than he's Given Credit for, Around these Parts...

Garcia Beat Khan Pretty Much the Same Way Iran Barkley Beat Thomas Hearns, their First Dance...There's MORE to Khan-Garcia than Simply "Garcia Stopped him in 4 Measly Rounds", if People OBJECTIVELY Critique the Fight...

Sure, Khan won the first two rounds comfortably. He looked good doing it. But then IMO he lost the third even before he got his glass neck () exposed. Rewatch the round Mister REED. Garcia was looking for that overhand hook/haymaker shot from both sides for the full round. It was premeditated and planned. It looked to me like he was adapting to what Khan had brought to him, to that point.

REED's MESSAGE is Being Lost Here...

Danny Garcia is Rightfully Regarded as 1 of THE 10 Best Current Fighters on the Planet, by Most...& he's Undefeated...

Nonetheless, Amir Khan was OUTCLASSING Him for the Bulk of the Action, Leading Up to the Neck Assassination...For that Reason ALONE, Khan Deserves MORE Positive Posts than he Gets Around Here...& Whether You Care Much for Khan's Resume, Compare it Other Fighters, Who Get SHITLOADS More Praise from Fightbeaters???...

There's a Reluctance, an Inability, a Flat Out REFUSAL to OBJECTIVELY Assess Amir Khan as a Fighter...Given his 1 Very Clear & Present FLAW, he Should have MORE Losses than he Does, if he were Even HALF as Bad as Some Claim he Is...He Should Also NOT have the Number of NAMES on the "Win" Column of his Ledger...

As MWS said, though, the 'action' lasted less than three completed rounds. If Khan had given Garcia an eight round beating before being blasted out, your point would be 100% valid. As he won two of three rounds, it's less so IMO.

REED, READ the first few pages of this thread, my posts in particular, and see my ping of Khan compared to some of our Fightbeat brethren.

I actually don't hate Khan at all, not even close. He's nowhere NEAR the Hameds, Tszyus, Titos etc for me.

I've given Khan full credit for being gutsy and being in some pretty entertaining fights. Me and Hut have also said he's achieved a lot for his level of ability, had a solid career, and made a lot of money.

You Also Labeled him "TrashKhan", Basically Said he "Can't Beat Anybody Half Decent" & that he's "At his Best Doing his Baby Deer Jig", in the First Few Pages of This Thread...

Sorry, but that Falls Short of What REED Would Call an OBJECTIVE Assessment of Amir Khan's Abilities, Brother MWS...

Nothing I said was lacking objectivity though. And let's not twist things brother REED - I said "He's not a lock to beat anyone half decent", not that he can't beat anyone half decent :eek:hno:

Which given his losses to Prescott and Peterdude, is true and fair. He's not the sort of guy you'd want to bet on against any decent world class fighter.

And I'm sure even loaded would agree that Khan is at his most entertaining when he's doing the Baby Deer Jig :kidcool:

Lest we not forget too, I did pick Khan beat ScrubbyZander easily.

Differing from More WELL LIKED Current Fighters, Khan Does what's Warranted, to Get MEANINGFUL Bouts...

Dude Could Talk about his "Drawing Power" and EASILY Milk SHIT Fights on his Hometurf, for the Next Several Years...Instead, he's Jumping Through EVERY Hoop Al Haymon Puts in his Path, to Position Himself for a Bout w/the Best Fighter in the World, Lb for Lb, Floyd Mayweather...

Lest We Forget, Khan was in the Driver's Seat to Face Floyd UNTIL Maidana Pulled Broner's Skirt Up...Make No Mistake, Maidana Was Deemed an EASIER Task by Floyd, which is Why Chino Got the Knod Over Khan...Meanwhile, they Used Khan's Popularity to BOOST Pay Per View Sales in the Lead Up Bout to Mayweather-Maidana I....Given Khan's Punch Resistance, EVERY Fight is a Dangerous Proposition for Him, a RISK (as we Saw w/the Ortiz Bout)...Nonetheless, he Faced Collazo and Alexander, @ the Behest of Team Mayweather, In AMERICA, @ the HIGHEST Weight he's Ever Competed @, in Consecutive Bouts...

Nah, his Resume Ain't Hall of Fame Worthy, but it DEFECATES Upon the Resumes of More than a Few Fighters HIGHLY Praised by Fightbeaters...Fighters Still LACKING Even 1 Signature Win, yet Using Finances & a Deference to Moving Up in Weight, as an Excuse...

What is Khan's signature win? Maidana? A fight where he was hanging on for dear life, borderline KO'd at the end of the fight, which could have conceivably been scored a draw?

    Spot on.

Khan gets knocked out by Prescott. "Well he can forget about ever reaching world level" - wins world title 3 fights later. Gets no credit.

"Oh well he'll never fight a puncher, especially not a monster like Maidana" - Calls out Maidana, wins a thriller. Gets no credit.

Gets beaten by Petersen and Garcia. "Well that's his career done" - Moves up a division and handily beats Collazo and Alexander. Yet again, he gets no credit. You are right in that compared to a lot of currently highly regarded fighters, the facts stand to show he has done a lot more.

    "Beats Collazo and Alexander"

Wow, what a legend Khan is! Quel resumé!

Collazo and Alexander are not relevant in world boxing. You guys are acting like he's just thrashed Lucas and Garcia, or other fighters of that calibre. Collazo and Alexander are not even top 10 in their division.

You guys can't on one hand slag Gaybox off for his resumé, but act like Collazo and Alexander are the mark of a good resumé for Khan. Again, these guys are not relevant at world level. Floyd or Pacquiao would be derided for fighting either one of them, and rightfully so.

Sure it is, and yeah, Khan showed guts in fighting Maidana in the 1st place, and hanging in there to get the W.

But let's be real, it's not exactly an impressive signature win is it? It's over a guy who you've openly called shit, and mocked the idea that he has improved. Maidana used to be laughed at on Fightbeat, and called a glorified clubfighter. Khan's signature win is over this guy, in a fight where he was hanging on for dear life, lucky to hear the final bell. Not exactly the signature win of legends is it?

If Khan had knocked him out cold, or 12-0'd him, then sure, it would be a more worthy signature win.

Keeping the Maidana Win in Proper CONTEXT (Which You Seem INCAPABLE of), It was THE Most Dangerous Bout Khan's Taken, to Date...In Terms of Pre-Fight Perception, It's Not Even Debateable...

You're Right, REED's NEVER Thought Much of Maidana...He IS what he Is; a Basic, Come Forward PRESSURE Fighter...A BIT More Science to his Approach that Say, Margarita, but Not a Shitload...Despite This, he's Aggressive as Hell, Ballsy & his Power is LEGIT, a Position REED's ALWAYS Maintained, in Regards to Chino...

Given Khan's Style and 1 FATAL Flaw, Maidana was ALL WRONG for Him....REED's Pretty Sure Pre-Fight Threads Can Be Dug Up, where he's Echoing Similar Sentiments...Very RARELY Does a Fighter Openly PURSUE Such a Poor Contrast in Styles, when it Can EASILY Be Avoided...Maidana was 29-1, 27 KO's, w/the Loss via Split Decision to Kotelnik, in Pro-Kotelnik Territory...

OBJECTIVELY Speaking, ie., Taking PRE-Fight Beliefs and Notions Into Consideration, Not to Mention the Quality of Khan's Punch Resistance, there's Simply NOfuckingWAY the WIN Over Maidana Can Be Taken Away from Him, Bro...

When @ Least 50% of Knowledgeable Boxing Fans Predict you to LOSE a Fight, by KO No Less, You Simply MUST Be Given Credit for WINNING That Fight...Nevermind DROPPING Your Aggressive, Hard Punching Opponent & TAKING His Best Shots w/Out Tasting the Canvas...No Ifs, Ands, Buts or Monday Morning Quarterbacking about It...

YES, Maidana is a Signature Win for Amir Khan...Especially Factoring in what Maidana has Done, Since Khan...

I'm not really taking it away from him though am I? I've even said I thought he won the fight and showed heart. If that's not objective, I don't know what is. Some people even scored it for Maidana.

But I can't say Khan impressed me. He started well as always and dropped Maidana with a nice bodyshot, but looked like shit when Maidana started to thump him and rough him up, and was flailing around the ring like a spastic, hanging on for dear life.

And I don't think it being a bad style matchup is really a significant factor in a win being a signature win, or great win etc. Of course there are some good and bad style matchups, that's boxing.

Just like you couldn't argue against something being a signature win because it was a good style matchup (Floyd Vs Chico is perhaps the best example here), I don't think you can argue something being a signature win in large part because it's a bad style matchup.

It would be like calling Pacquiao Vs Algieri a great win, largely on the basis that (hypothetically) Algieri's shitty, boring style is one that Pacquiao struggles with the most. But ultimately it doesn't really matter. If Algieri isn't a great fighter, then it's not a great win or signature win.

I'm really surprised that you in particular rate this as a particularly good win, and a signature win, because you've always been one of Maidana's biggest detractors. You talk about him as a borderline scrub, so bad style matchup or not, I don't see how you can be that impressed with a one over him, especially one where Khan literally squeaked by him in pretty unimpressive fashion.

Sorry, but for me, that is not a signature win. A signature win is one over a better fighter than Maidana, and one where the winner looks a lot more impressive than Khan did in that fight.

To be honest, I was more impressed with Khan against Judah and Paulie. Surely neither of them were great fighters when he fought them, but at least Khan looked like a pretty good fighter, in completely shutting them down in 1 sided fashion.

agREED .. the hate khan gets is almost comical on here. throwing fast combinations/flurries is called "button mashing" when he does it (?!) people are acting like he fights like joe calzaghe.

    my criticisms of khan are: 1. he's careless/overly aggressive 2. he's chinny

he can't help being chinny. and #1 exacerbates #2, but that carelessness is largely due to his tendency toward aggression. that aggression is part of what makes him an exciting fighter. admittedly, as someone who followed his career from the amateurs & predicted khan's tendency to be defensively reckless would cause him issues, it's been frustrating as hell to watch at times.

khan made garcia look VERY ordinary for the first couple rounds, i would pick him over garcia without hesitation in a rematch. in addition, i'm more convinced than ever that his style gives mayweather jr fits. right now there's a bigger speed gap between mayweather jr and khan than there has been between mayweather jr and any of his other opponents ever (favoring the opponent). floyd (obviously) has the skill advantage, and may walk him down eventually. but at 38 years old, that isn't going to be a walk in the park for him.
