I don't get how Algieri is such a massive underdog. He beat Provodnikov. Anybody think Khan would get by Provodnikov, I don't think so. And yeah he got whipped by Pacman, but since when is that important. Anybody think Margarito or Cotto should be dogs vs. Khan. Khan almost lost to Julio Diaz, almost by KO and almost on points... Yeah he looked more composed against Collazo and Alexander but you get 13 to 1 in some places. That's crazy isn't it? :dunno:
It's styles and the fact Algeiri can't crack an egg. The only reason this fight was signed is to make Khan look good and be presented as a viable opponent for Cuntweather.
I hear both of you and probably shade it with Whiskey, Khans management will not let him near anyone with a punchers chance and as brave and resilient as he was vs Pacquaio, he still lost and never threatened to win. He got passed Procrastnikov on the basis of surviving two first round knockdowns, a la John Ruiz vs Golota. He sort of just survived long enough for Procrastnikov to start procrastinating. Collazo was of course ancient. It says a lot that Khan in his pomp is fighting guys Hatton was fighting 8, 9 years ago.
I very much agree with all your points, but like whiskey said it's about styles, and they heavily favour Khan. Khan gets beaten by power or pressure, French Algiers couldn't be further from a puncher or pressure fighter.
Khan fighting on spike tv...doesn't that say everything you need to know about his status (lack thereof) in the states?
he won't. This will turn out like the Malignaggi fight. You can't put khan in with anyone with any semblance of a punch.
This is one fight where....Khan should use his typical rock'em sock'em STYLE....stop trying to be "different" for difference sake....
Was it me or did...Algieri land a left hook...and Amir looked for a split second that he was going to go to the canvas?? I don't know it was the reaction that Amir had to that punch...it landed n his hands went down immediately n his legs look a bit wobbly....AMIR wasn't hurt cause he kept punching...wasn't noticeable...but I saw something....
another close round...Algieri stalking him...if he can stay aggressive like this i think Khan could fade..lets see
I have a few drinks in me but am I seeing things or is Algeri ahead? Fuck what the pro-haymon announcers are saying...I think Algeri is cutting off the ring well and landing good body shots. I think Khan was stunned once or twice.
Virgil Hunter has ruined KHAN.....I know make Khan more diverse...but this is BULLSHIT...his fighting a guy who punches like a girl...the gameplan should be come forward..attack..attack..attack...fuck this boxing shit....UNLESS Khan is intimidated by Algieri slight size advantage.
Funny...Algeri is consistently landed a clean stiff jab that Khan doesn't see at all. Khan's neck is like a shock absorber to those shots. He doesn't recognize or pick up the shot as it comes in. Khan's throwing "stay away from me punches."
