I love Kovalev but he's s still unproven at the top level. I understand that most top guy's doesn' really want to fight him but, kind of like GGG, he needs to find some name to fight him or else the interest won't stay. I don't understand why HBO didn't put up the money to keep Stevenson on their network (HBO had a matching right that they choose not to exercise) , not only would it have made for a tremendous fight, it's basically the only opponent that makes sense for Kovalev in the near term.

Don't get me wrong, Kovalev-Pacal or Kovalev-Dawson are two fights I wouldn't mind. But I doubt they would help bring Kovalev to star status, no matter how he wins them.

What people fail to see about Kov is, he's not destroying nobodies. If he was struggling with these guys, it would tell us something. But he's absolutely OBLITERATING good fighters, and not even dropping rounds in the process.

honestly it doesn't means much that he struggles or not. Some guys will obliterate b+ level guys, but can't beats a- guys. OIn a smaller level Lemieux, a guy you were also praising as the next best thing not long ago, is a perfect example of this. He blasted easilly decent fighter such as AYala and Camacho, but even against slightly better opposition, he couldn't do much. In fact, i'd say that not seeing kovalev getting tested is kind of worrying, since we might see if he can adapt and that he's not onlya frontrunning can krusher.

I have to agree with JOM. Not saying it applies to Kovalev necessarily, but LISB - some guys are just designed to crush B level fighters, yet get clowned by elite fighters, like Tito, Hamed, Tszyu etc.

Hopefully Kovvles isn't one of those, my gut feeling is he is the goods. I reckon he batters Stevenson.

kovalev is really a monster, the boy hits too hard, in my opinion i dont think superman is skilled enough to beat sergey yes he hits hard as well but he is a one trick pony, only wanna load up the right hand, i think he'll give koval some solid rounds though may be the first it go maybe maybe not

Agreed. People think he's more skilled than he is, because he's fairly quick and slick, but he is kind of basic actually and just does the same thing over and over again.

I kind of agree. Stevenson is pretty much a lhw poor man pacman. Though, as we have seen, you can go very far with only these attributes.

What did Kovalev do well and what do you feel he could improve on?

I think Kovalev needs to fight Braehmer or Chilemba. Braehmer is a southpaw with decent power, and Chilemba is a fast, awkward counter-puncher.
