Ward is the only fighter capable of beating Kov AND vice versa. Stevenson is a far inferior fighter to both of them. So, I'd rather see Kov-Ward.

I don't even think Stevenson would win a rematch with Fonfara, let alone beat Kov.

Isn't Stevenson damn near 40 now? ANY chance he had against Kov was a few years ago, back when he beat Cloud for instance.

I think he's a lot less sharp now, and I think Kov outboxes him then stops him.

Kov and Ward are both top 5 P4P fighters, and it's a far more compelling matchup with no HUGE favorite. At this stage, I'd expect Kov to be the slight betting favorite over Ward.

I see Ward holding for 12 rounds vs Kovalev.

Kovalev is great to watch but Ward is very difficult to beat. It is still a 50:50 fight. Let's see how good Beterbiev turns out to be, too

How shittily choreographed was that bullshit with Stevenson. Duck noises? Hold me back, hold me back (While I stroll forward gently)! Stevenson came off pretty downy, too

I just watched the post fight Interview. Kovalev is very good for boxing.

He's rapidly becoming my favourite fighter.

I think he'll majority decision Andre Ward...but as everyone implies it's a 50-50 fight. He'll knock out Stevenson though..although that'll be a very good fight.

Like I said, I'd pick Krusher to beat Stevenson, but make no mistake about it Stevenson is LIVE and could win that fight. Stevenson is faaaaaaast and that straight left is powerful.

He doesn't have a straight left. He has a left, but it's like not straight and stuff. There is an element of loop and twist to it. I think he has a straight right hand.

Agreed, I'm a huge Kovalev fan (and I like Stevenson too), and while I think he wins in the unificaiton fight, Stevenson knocking him coming in wouldn't be much of an upset imo.

I still think Kov beats Ward, but a Ward win wouldn't be surprising at all. On paper, it's basically a 50-50 fight.

One thing the two Pascal fights have shown me is Kov wouldn't have had much of a chance against a prime Jones. Pascal having success in spots countering Kov.... Roy would have made him gun shy very well and carried the fight with his speed.

Kovalev would hurt Jones with faints and finish him off with a brutal combination of missed punches.....now if he actually landed...roy's bloodline all the way back to slavery days would be erased from history

I do agree with you that Jones would beat Kovalev but not because Pascal landed a couple of shots but because Jones was such a unique fighter. Roy would have to be very careful of course, but so far I see it as a rather one-sided fight.

However, Kovalev isn't the type of fighter who would win every round every time out, as he is not a defensive wizard, speed demon nor throws 120+ punches a round. He seems to concentrate on getting the job done to win the fight, getting hit along the way can't be seen as a weakness.

The same way you can't pick Jean Pascal or Antonio Tarver over Michael Spinks even though even lesser fighters tagged and won rounds over Spinks

St-juste used to be a very dangerous fighter but now he's old, slow and sloppy. And yes Lafreniere is a bum. As for PAscal, he completely humiliated himself yesterday. It was really a stupid decision to go back straight at Kovalev after getting koed by him and looking completely underwhelming against Gonzalez. Guy looked like Bute in there. He should have taken a few bums to rebuild his confidence.

Payday, I guess. Plus, like Joey told Jake, if you win you win, if you lose you still win. All the guys now will think that Pasc has nothing left, and they might be right, but he might get more paydays out of this than not.

Well that was a shitty ending. Kov had a dead man in front of him and seemed content to just go through the motions. He never stepped it up to get the proper stoppage.

To be honest, with all the caprice that both have regarding a fight, Stevenson and Kovalev should STFU about each other. At this point, it's pretty obvious that this fight won't happen since neither want to make a compromise.

    This.

Stevenson is starting to decline imo. His chances against Kovalev are decreasing by the seconds.

This fight shows once again that the clown running boxing at HBO have very little knowledge about the sport. You could go to any boxing forum and pretty much 100% of the members would tell you that it was a pointless rematch, far more likely than not to make a much less thrilling fight than the 1st one (which was also very overrated by HBO)

HBO wants to showcase kovalev so who would have been a better opponent?
