What are you taking about? Hamed is regularly slaughtered on this forum. Most of the Brit posters thought his loss to Barrera absolutely hilarious, myself included. None of that changes the fact that he would have absolutely fucking ICED both of the guys in that ring on Saturday. MTF
Hamed is no different from a lot of polarizing fighters. His fanbase overrates him, his haters underrate him. His fanbase is mostly gone on message boards, so you could probably say he's overall underrated now. I pick him against Naz in MMs when he's put in with ATGs like Sanchez, Gomez, Nelson, ect., but I think most Brits who know the sport would freely admit he wasn't the caliber of those guys. I'd pick him over many guys just a level below ATGs. Like a McGuigan, for example.
I just realized that Lara and Wood are having a rematch in the UK this weekend. I wonder if Lara is going to be able win again or if he’s going to receive another “draw” like in the Josh Warrington rematch.
Nope... Hamed was More TALENTED, More ACCOMPLISHED & Had a Better RESUME Than Calzaghe...Hamed was Considerably More AMBITIOUS As Well... Calzaghe REDEEMED Himself Somewhat Later in his Career, but the Fact Remains He Wasted MANY of His Prime Fighting Years Treading Water In His UK Supermiddleweight Safe Haven... REED
I hate p4p matchup as much as anybody, but im pretty sure hamed would have wasted calz in a p4p mythical matchup. He was way too open to deal with a fast bomber like hamed imo
Calzaghe was Sooooo WIDE w/His Punch Delivery, Hamed Would Have OPENINGS For His Bending/Twisting Uppercuts INSIDE of Calzaghe's Rapid Fire SLAPS... Hamed's Power DETERS Calzaghe or STOPS Him Outright...Hamed Beats Calzaghe 7 Out of 10 Times, Mythically Speaking... REED
I have no dog in a Hamed vs Calz debate, but I would say that Hamed was a better talent, but Joe was a better fighter with more substance. Hamed would never in his life beat a technician on B-Hop's level. And I'm fully aware that Calz didn't beat a vintage Hopkins, but he did beat a Hopkins with a decent amount left in the tank. Hamed would be lost against a technician like Hop. We know this because he got embarrassed by a LESSER technician than Hopkins. Joe was a higher IQ fighter than Naz by leaps and bounds. Hamed was purely fighting off instinct. Calzaghe was actually thinking in there. Which one do I ENJOY watching more in their primes? Easily Hamed. He was dynamic, explosive, and fun. Who was a better fighter? I'd say Joe.
Dont get me.wrong, its definitely arguable. Indeed, calzaghe was a much more intelligent fighter than naz. And naz probably lose against Methuselah Hopkin. But would calz destroy a guy like Bungu so easily? Would he even beat a guy as talented as Kelly? That's why i said I'm not so sure calz was clearly the better uk fighter of that era. A case can me made for both imo (Froch also, but he was more of a later era, and even hatton, but few will agree with me)
Questioning if Joe would beat a guy like Kevin Kelly is laughable. All due respect to the Queens native, but in KK we're talking merely a "good" fighter. Kevin Kelly was not good enough to beat any HOF level guy. The Kessler win exceeds any single Hamed win. Hamed never beat a guy at their absolute apex who was on Kessler's level. Kelly certainly wasn't on Kessler's level. I find myself actually defending Calzagje a lot of this forum. He's generally underrated on Fightbeat. In a Mythical P4P match, I would fancy Joe to outclass Hamed. He simply had more dimensions and more substance. Joe was a very mentally tough fighter, while Naz was a mental midget.
The word southpaw was missing wjen describing Kelly. I dont recall calz ever fighting a southpaw, and it seems to me that he would have been very vulnerable to the straight left
Saw a comment on ESB that raises some suspicion about why Lara came in overweight. Wouldn’t surprise me if this is another hometown favoritism for Wood as a way to strip Lara of the title.
I just want to know why on 3 separate occasions,..Lara has won by KO only to face the same fighter in a rematch the next fight?? Makes zero sense
Lara is close to a bum himself. I said it before, in the MAB/Morales/Naz/Marquez era, Lara would be fighting on FNF undercards.
I'm watching Okolie on Sky. Fucking intros and walk-ons last longer than the fight nowadays. Total nonsense - get the cunts in the ring and fighting FFS. Be very surprised if Lara doesn't stop Wood again. Will turn over to that if/when this shite ever gets fucking going. MTF
